Hopkins MW resume vs Sturms MW resume. Whos is really better & who would win?

i think the thread is being a little ridiculous but making a valid point that hopkins middleweight resume is overrated a lot. his skills are overrated to but not as much as his middleweight reign. It was a great reign, notable for it's longevity but much like sturms, it's littered with good but not great names (and a couple of horrible ones). Now, hopkins fought better comp (not a big accomplishment) and never suffered an embarassing KO loss to a junior middleweight. but a thread not that long back asked if hopkins could be considered best all time if he beat valuev (belt holder at the time). Hopkins could NEVER be considered the best and could never be considered the best at middleweight. ****, top 5 might be a big stretch

 

if hopkins isnt tope five at middleweight of all time then sturm isnt even top 50

 

probably not:goodi put sturm leagues below briscoe, valdes and at least alan minter was the REAL middleweight champ.

but my top 4 reads....hagler, greb, robinson, monzon (unsure the order for certain). the fifth spot could be argued by a couple of guys (burley, ketchel, etc.)

 

Hopkins struggles with fast 2 handed fighters who are his own size. This is why Sturm would outpoint Hopkins.
For people who say Sturm hasnt tested himself, he has a win over the current IBF MW champ, not to mention that he has also won the WBA belt and WBO belt during his career

 

if the purpose of the thread was the make people reconsider hopkins placement and the automatic assumption that he would beat sturm, then it's succeeded in a way (at least on me)

Do I think hopkins is better than sturm? Obviously
Do I think hopkins wins automatically cause of that? No. Sturm would present stylistic challenges to him

Their resumes are seperated in large part due to longevity and length of reigns, but barring a few exceptions, not necessarily quality of opposition

 

where would you place robert allan on that list?

Didn't Felix Sturm got koed by a journeyman boxer. Oh yeah he's a real threat to an ATG in Hopkins, lol. Hopkins by 12 round schooling, even now.

 

sturm has a very good jab, and that will always take you far ion boxing. but he wont beat hopkins. it might be a **** tedious and boring fight, but hopkins gets the victory

 

yeah and Hopkins has lost on points to ****ing Bum and got a Draw too
