Retaining the undisputed crown at 38 proves Greatness.

You judge a fighter on how long he can keep going for without having to invoke the shotness card.

Do you think actual fighters spend their time talking about "Prime"?

You fight who you fight and lose to who you lose to.

"But if Tyson was in era X he would kill one on one!”

Well, the chances are he would be "past it" on some level, so watch out with that reasoning.

LL wasn't injured. Kirk Johnson was. Im not sure he should be commended for simply doing his job. Plus there was no way HBO were going to cancel that date and loose a huge chunk of money. LL was picking and choosing his opponents up till that point. No hardcore fan was interested in him vs Johnson. We wanted LL Vlad or LL Vitali.

    i know who was injured.....
in a case like that, Lewis was not obligated to fight anyone but Kirk Johnson that night....but he said the show would go on.....when he could have said "screw you , i didnt train for this 6 foot 8 guy i know nothing about"

Negative LL was obligated to fight as he was under contract with HBO. LL was hardly the cross over athlete to be in any position to give anyone the finger. He simply wasnt popular enough or mainstream in the same vein that Tyson and Holy were in the states. Additionally HBO would have sued the crap put of him. Not a good idea seeing as LL was trying to cash out. Most people just didn't find LL endearing as was attested to by his aloofness throughout his career.

are you kidding me? happens all the time...david haye just did it a year ago.....Wlad didnt have to fight, and that event stood to loose millions.
How are they gonna sue lewis for kirk johnson pulling out?? :rofl not to mention i watched the news reports when they talked about it and had a scrip for every boxing mag made back then.....
apparently you arent up on your contract law. Did they sue tysons balls off for pulling out of the holyfield showdown in 1991? it went from holyfield - tyson to holyfield bert cooper. from PPV to HBO.... its part of the game and its a risk on alot of people when that kind of money is spent.
Lewis followed 2 of the most exciting heavyweights in the last 30 years if not more....people werent used to style like that. im not saying he was mr excitement....but HBO loved his ass..... was he tyson or holyfield? no....and no one else has come close to those guys in excitment since

Listen nubby Johnson pulled out 2 weeks before the clash. Got it 2 WEEKS. There was no way in hell HBO were scrapping that so close to fight. And there was no way LL was turning down that kind of money. So im not sure why you're trying to pull out lame comparisons as an example. First off Tyson went to jail. And Wlad Haye wasnt even signed. All they had was a very loose verbal agreement.

I quite enjoyed watching the fight again and from My perspective lennox was coming on in the last 2 rounds and Vitali was holding alot more and the only reason he wasn't knocked down in the last round when the went 3/4 of the ring falling forward was because lewis was in front of him not backing down. Lewis was definitely stocking him with the overhand right and it was starting to find its mark when he doubled up on his Jab. Vitali's cutman was **** as the cut was bleeding when he left is corner at the beginning of the 6 round. Even the scorecards prove that Lewis won the last 2 rounds

Let's not forget klitschko was supposed to be fighting sanders on the undercard of the Lewis fight so he had a training camp as well. I ****ing hate all these klitschko fan boys who twist everything to sound like there boy is a god and it's a shame too coz I used to support them until all these unrealistic nuthuggers showed up when wlad started winning. Let me just ask that guy who was making out vk took the fight with only 2 weeks training why Lewis went to the olympics and vk did not? that's right coz vitali failed a steroid test AND he still has the same trainer he had then. End of the day Lennox did not 'smash' Klitschko but all these Vitali rent boys who try to say that klitschko was gona knock him out if it had not been stopped then why was he holding onto lewis so much in 5,6. There was a part in the fight where Lewis throws about 14 body shots just to get him to stop holding.

Vitali won the very early rounds but by the 4th the fight was turning in Lennox's favour. I've said it before and I'll say it again, even if the fight wasn't stopped (which it rightly was), the fight was heading in LL's favour and there's no doubt in my mind he wouldn't have gone on to win it anyway.

can people stop debating this. it is ridiculous. lewis scored a valid tko. he isnt the first to score a knockout when behind on the cards, and he sure as hell wont be the last.

no dumbass....tyson pulled a rib in training....."pulled" . he didnt go to jail for another year after this happened. and once again....theres no ****ing iron clad contract that forces anyone to fight on a certain night.
Lennox signed a contract to fight KIRK JOHNSON. He said he didnt want to let his fans down and went ahead and agreed and signed....guess what...? another contract..... you cant be that ****ing dumb can you? HBO is HBO...they arent ****ing GOD.
and Wlad and haye was signed!! and they had 60,000 tickets sold! they dont sell tickets to a stadium until EVERYTHING is a done deal. you have every fact complete backwards....i think you jusr posted the dumbest thing i ever read:patsch:lol:

the guy could only last 6rds with lewis thats the fact,he wasn't good enough.the guy had maybe 6 cuts to one side of his face where the right hand got him two very bad cuts on one eye.being ahead at 1/2 way isn't enough

Lewis would not rematch! By the way, his eyes were more swollen at the end of the fight, and he was cut too across the nose.

dont take that guy serious...read his other posts...he said lewis was obligated to take the fight :rofl or HBO would have sued him because see they had a contract...and it involved only a date...not any particular opponent  i think hes new to the sport or just drunk an hour into any show..... or has pieces of old boxing magazines and makes up parts to finish the story.
