The ring doctor stopped the fight, and never told this to Vitali directly.

Lewis was dead tired and crashed hard on his stool. We all saw how much energy Vitali had left when he learned they stopped the fight.

Where was the re-match that Lewis promised?

so do you believe the fight should have been stopped based on the cuts he suffered?

and your next point is probably being debated on a relevant thread.

The ringdoctor was in round 3 in the corner and since than in every round! After round 5, he told the team "one round". So the team knows that the fight will be stopped after round 6.

the doctor should have warned vitalis corner at least, one more round and i stop it! . but this abrupt stoppage was simply unfair!

Absolut watch HBO and everybody can see the dotor in the corner after round 3 and again in every round. After round 5 he said "one more round and i will stop the fight".

George Foreman mentioned it on TV.

On german TV the commentator said, the doctor was not in the corner before, but this was not true.

But it does not care, a ring doctor does not have to discuss a stoppage with the team.

He had to care about the health of the boxers. And the doctor made the right decision.

Watch HBO and you can see and hear it.

George Foreman said it after round 3 that the doctor will stop the fight. So Vitali should have done what Hagler did against Hearns.

Vitali made a great fight against Lewis but he lost because of cuts which where results of Lewis´punches. So the vitory is legit.

Imagine if when Vitali retires from fighting he becomes a full time ref!!

There would be an abundance of tragedies at contests he's refereeing.

I can imagine him allowing the Minter Hagler fight to go on - Or even Ali Cooper

Vitali should seriously get over this by now - But it seems like a bitterness that is taking over him more and more as the years progress.
