Do you think Frank Warren feels under pressure to move DeGale on quicker?

British champ? that means nothing on the world scene there are clubfighters in latin america who would KO paul smith, this is the same paul smith who struggled almightily with david banks and i had banks winning that fight BTW. If degale wants a test they should put him in with Zuniga a guy who recently fought for a world title and brings on the heat, the reason why paul smith is fighting in england is because thats how far his abilities will allow him to fight at.

It always happens with boxers who break into the public eye very early. The casual boxing public doesn't really understand that they need to learn because they did so well at the Olympics, it's surely a matter time before they can just have a world title fight. This in combination with the eagerness of young boxers, especially ones that bring in good money, mean Warren is under pressure to appease them

Thats the thing though, I dont think anyone expects someone like De Gale to be thrown into a world title fight, but when you're fighting guys like Jindrich Kubin, how much are you going to learn from pummeling them? De Gale probably fought better opposition in the amateurs than some of his professional opponents, which is why he should look to face stronger opposition, he will learn more!

You generally improve more when things that you do wrong are exploited to a degree.

Degale can't do much if Groves and Smith are ducking him. Smith commentated on Degale vs Dilks on youtube and spent almost all of the fight giving excuses as to why he won't face Degale next. Groves has been shooting his mouth off for ages and then is giving counter offers and stipulations when he gets his chance. Smith is fighting Paul David ffs.. lol

Maybe De Gale should fight a fringe world class contender, preferably one that cant punch if you're a match maker.

Gavin and DeGale look set to fight for top domestic honours so they are finally being moved along correctly. Same with Bellew, Cleverly and co.

I know that, but what I said was being moved on to a British title in his 9th fight, because of how Groves has been moved

Can I ask how you managed to score the Banks fight properly, when the fight was screened as extended highlights?

Well I'm just stating my opinion mate. And if you watch the youtube clip, Smith spends most of the fight rationalizing why he isn't fighting Degale. Groves has also been mouthing and then turned down a chance. These are facts, not opinions. The opinions come into the equation when talking about who would win the fights. Personally I do rate Groves and think he beats Smith easily, but loses to Degale. If Smith was smarter he would fight Degale now. Think about what Degale will go on to achieve in his career... he is being groomed for the top and will have a long career regardless. He is most beatable now and a win over him would be great for Smiths career. However, I think Smith knows, like most of us, that he can't beat Degale.

As Degale says, it's about LEVELS.

PS, didn't you pick Dilks to KO Degale in one round over on boxrec mate?

He's based it on what he wants to be true rather than what is true. But Smith's stagnated since then. He should be at 160. He neglects his jab and body punching, which is a shame. But he'd give DeGale fits once Chunky realised he wasn't folding or not throwing back.

I think perhaps standards have generally dropped (are dropping) over the years and it's perhaps easier now to move the youngsters along quicker to a Euro or ABC WT shot.
