As you folks might know already he is training in Philippines, Then Dallas and then LA. I have spoken to one or two people here already and they said they think that this could have a bad affect on Khan having to fly all over the place.

Also Roach is mostly busy training Manny Pacquaio who is and always will be his number 1 priority, Basically Pacquaio is Roach meal ticket and then number 2 is Khan that he likes to train. Pacquaio is training for Margarito and for some reason Khan has been sparring with Pacquaio who is a southpaw which I think is strange since Maidana isnt a southpaw, I guess Roach knows what he is doing but one thing for sure this isnt the having Roach spread work over two fighters and then having to share Alex Arizza aswell.

I wont be shocked if Khan gets knocked out by Maidana, Its looking more likey because Maidana has been keeping quiet and training in Vegas for a while, Khan has been flying all over the place and cant stfu on twitter and getting involved with his brother on the commonwealth games when he should be concentrating on his own fight.

SO is this a good or bad camp?

Depends on the fighter at hand, Khan seems better off away from home comforts but at same time LA is far different to Philippines. He still be getting the same advice, work and nutrition but mentally he may not enjoy the day to day life there. Plus Pacquiao's last camp there was ruined by weather and he had to learn to swim because couldn't do roadwork.

The trip from there to Dallas could be major downfall, it may upset the patterns Khan likes in training. Traveling tires the body and mind so it cannot be a good thing.

This will test Amir's mind body and soul. Far from Ideal that's for sure.

Yeah I get what you mean, Look at the third picture you can clearly see there is some rubble/trash and it looks like there is some construction work going on there, Compare that place to the UCLA or USC stadium he gets to use in LA, I wont be shocked if a stray dog walked into the gym while they are training its a poor country.

I dont know why Manny wanted Roach and all those folks to come out to the Philippines to train when it would have been all easier in LA.

Roach has told Manny numerous times he doesn't like training him out there. Tbh as much as Roach needs Manny and Manny needs Roach i find this disrespectful of Manny to drag Freddie over to a country like Philippines knowing Freddie's health isn't greatest.

He obviously has his reasons for training there but i think it's a decision of the heart and not the mind. Clearly it's not best place to train for facilities and other aspects that are important in preparation for a bout.

I cannot see Khan liking it, he will just have to get on with it for now. I think if Ariza,Khan,Roach and Pacquiao were at table and they had to vote where to train i would think that it be a 3 to 1 vote in favor of LA.

If Khan loses, which I doubt he will, he loses, it won't be because the no 1 boxing trainer in the world took him to the Philippines.

The reason from my understanding that Roach doesnt like to train Manny in the the Philippines is because Manny is always been asked to do interviews, Attend rallys, Sign Autographs, Do all these kinds of things whilst he is in training camp. Everyone wants a piece of Manny over there he is a national icon. Roach rightly believes that interferes with the training.

As for Roach's health yeah the Parkinsons isnt getting better, But then again I remember Roach said he was going to bring his mother to the Philippines aswell, So I dont know whats going on there.

I asked someone else this but I will ask you aswell, Do you think if Roachs health gets worse and he cant give as much time to his fighters that Khan might be better with someone like Nazim Richardson? The person I asked said they wouldnt trade Roach for Richardson but 8 full weeks with Richardson is better than 3 semi training weeks and then 5 full time weeks with Roach on a world wide tour. What you think?

I mean LA to Philippines, Philippines to Dallas, Dallas to LA, LA To Vegas, Are these guys doing a around the world tour?

I think Khan needs Freddie all the time, he can't be having bits and pieces that's no good to him, Khan relies on Freddie getting into his mind and drilling him over and over on moves.

I think if he was only getting a small amount of time with Roach then you couldn't find me a better man to take the reigns. Brother Naazim is similar in terms of repetition of moves and also tactically breaking down fights, as well as a man he can humble Khan a bit and use his wisdom to guide Khan to victory.

Obviously Naazim has his own unique style to Roach and philosophy but in terms of what type of trainer Khan would need as a replacement as i said you couldn't find me a better man to take reigns. Khan needs not only a coach but a tactician. In brother Naazim you get that.

Khan, mentally, is a lot stronger than you think. He had a similar setback in the Malignaggi fight, with him not being allowed into the country. And that was for his first ever fight away from home. Look how well he did in that.

Like JonOli above has said, Khan losing to Maidana won't have had anything to do with his training regime.

Isn't Pacquiao limited to a certain amount of time in the USA for tax reasons?

I'm sure that came up at some point before.

In any case, I'm pretty sure it won't hamper Khan too much, travelling is a pain but it's only a couple of additional flights, he doesn't have the hassle of booking them and I'm sure one of Pacquiao's many flunkies will go the effort of collecting his bags

Wonder how much longer Roach can go on training fighters..... he's about 50 now and his health is clearly on the downslide. Like Mandanda said, working with Richardson would be a good option, even though he's only in his forties you kinda think he's like a grandfatherly figure.... and has the tactical nous to combat pretty much style.

He came up with the perfect plan for Mosley to beat Mayweather, countering Floyd's lead hook with a right over the top... but Shane just wasn't good enough on the night.

If I was an upcoming fighter, I'd beg to be trained by Nazim Richardson.

    I would as well.

He's as good a trainer as Roach (IMO anyway) and doesn't come with so much baggage... plus I think Roach is a twat anyway

You'd also be mixing with lots of other good young fighters and also spending time with the likes of Hopkins and Mosley.... not sure the Wildcard is best suited to a young kid wanting to learn.

Pacquiao takes up a lot of time and effort for everyone involved, you'll have his leeches everywhere you go too..... plus Roach seems to be a bit of a mercenary.

Must admit I prefer Steward to Roach too.

You can't train all day, better than what most fighters I see seem to do these days and sit fiddling with their xbox
