This was just posted on Classic but I thought it'd get a lot of interest here as well.It shows the legendary Dave Sands completely outclassing future world middleweight champion Bobo Olson only a year before his tragic death.

Pity it's only the highlights package but seeing as any Sands footage is rarer than rocking horse **** this footage surfacing is a treat and the mans talents don't disappoint.

    Enjoy:good

Very impressive stuff, I only recently saw this myself.

Sands looks like he could have been our greatest with that form..Olsen was a very, very good fighter and was made to look ordinary.

With his premature death, he world lost a series of great fights between Sands and Robinson, Basilio, Turpin and Fullmer.

Sands would have bettered everyone of them on his day.

Bobby, have you seen that footage posted by Griffo before?

I didn't even realise it existed.

I'm pretty simple with computers but can anyone give a clue how you download from you tube.
Great footage, great fighters both of them

You need to download 'youtube downloader'. Takes a couple of minutes. Once installed, find whatever vid you like (for Ashley, its usually in the gay section) and click on the 'embed' button. 'Copy' the embed configuration highlighted in blue and then paste it to the 'youtube downloader' available bar whne you have 'youtube downloader' opened..

That my friend, is a big call. Not one that I necessarily dispute, but you are talking about some of the greatest and toughest fighters to ever walk this planet.

    Thank you Griffo.
That was some thing I thought thought I would never ever see.
Dave Sands was a machine well and truly oiled.
Could you imagine what we would have seen from Sands had there been close ups in that fight as good as the footage is to see it just did not do justice to the inside work from Sands.

Oh.. I might have read that about them before.

Mate, I'd give Sands an edge on everyone of them on his day. Villemain belted La Motta. Brimm boxed SRR to a draw.. as did Olsen. Their own exploits extend much further. Now, what did Sands do to the gentlemen in question?? The 3 mutual opponents he faught??

Never defeated at M/W between march '47 - death '52.. I think the 26 y/o Dave Sands (yes, a hypothetical) deserves every chance to have beaten each future M/W champ through to 1957. Many aspects would have detracted from his potential, although his record stand out more than most, especially those stepping up from the welter division at the time.
