    "via superior technique"

Seriously??? Just what technique is in use today that is superior to that which was in use during Dempsey's era?

The Dempsey of '18 would at the least be a major cruiser weight force.

Dempsey, born in 1987 and developing today in analogy to how he developed in his own time, would be a dominant heavyweight.

Footwork. Even if the A Force's footwork leaves much to be desired, anything we have today is superior to the kangaroo hop.

    We have the gaurd.

And a stance from which punches are thrown much more efficiently with better technique.

Combination punching in good form. As opposed to swinging your arms from side to side whilst leaning backwards, yet moving forwards:think

Deborah Nascimento. She looks 10 times better in motion than she does in pictures btw, they dont do her justice

I think that todays crop are looking a lot more like Moriss, Fulton, Willard and Firpo.

Basicaly there isnt anybody like Billy Miske (the only relevant name on the list) today.

    Oh for goodness sake.

The idea that Harrison could beat the best heavyweight form any year of the gloved era is preposterous.

Tommy Burns would probably hand him his head.

Funny, it's all relative, guys. The conversation here is largely about what a SMALL heavy Dempsey would be today.

When I was about seven, when my dad took me to meet him, he seemed big as a mountain.

Tommy Burns wouldn't do ****! you underestimate the Force. Dempsey would struggle to get close and if he did, he'd be tied up and worn out. His wild, telegraphed hooks would be far less effective also, on the high gloved gaurd of the much bigger man

You make me wonder how Michael Sprott ever overcame this colosus.

I might even get suport from some people I wouldnt normaly expect it from on this one!

Again, changing the era wouldn't change the man. As with most of the average sized heavies from the past, I believe Dempsey would probably carry just enough bulk to make the current heavyweight limit. He would probably suffer a weird early loss that ESB posters would dwell on but ultimately, Dempsey would maul his way to the top and become a major celebrity after most likely stopping Wlad. He would fight less and less frequently as Champion, leading to allegations of ducking perhaps not facing someone like Vitali. He would eventually drop the title while in questionable condition, retire, and live like a movie star. Critics would be divided, he would be widely recognized as an all time great but some would be quick to point out his controversial wins, bad early losses, and the contenders he missed while dismissing Wlad as being past hisr best and overrated to begin with.

I think he'd easily destroy any cruiserweight out there, and probably a handful of the weaker top 10 heavy's. In order to beat Wlad and Vitali however, he'd probably have to gain a few lbs, train a bit differently, and perhaps even make some small adjustments to his style. I can't picture him not making any changes, and still being able to just walk through the Klits like he did Willard.. Different level of talent.

Vitali and Williard are opposite corners of the same coin. Dempsey would do to Vitali what he did to Willard. Wlad would fall even faster with his issues with pressure. I think someone like Chagaev or Povetkin stands a better chance than them.

Asside from shear size, Willard has virtually nothing in common with either Klitschko. Both men had greater skill sets, more experience, better wins under their belts and were in much better shape. Willard hadn't beaten an opponent in 3 years, and was spending most of his down time working in a rodeo.

I think that stylisticaly and technicaly the similarities between Jess Willard and the K brothers go much deeper than a lot of people will admit.

And it was known that Dempsey was exceptionally strong for his size..and that was the belief of Archie Moore in an interview I read of his.
