Haye od course is a fighter where we can be held to our predictions.

I fancy that you sell him a little short on his ring generalship and prowess. However there are questionmarks over his chin and stamina, and he has a style that would be more than risky against a finisher like Dempsey.

These factors should be more than enough to see Dempsey instaled as a strong favourite.

We can argue whether Dempsey took a dive against Flynn but it honestly wouldnt effect my asesment much either way. It might not mean much more than an amateur loss on the record of a modern fighter.

I also dont atach much significance to the Meehan fights which were little more than glorified four round exhibitions.

The controvertial Miske fight is your best weapon here.

    All valid points.

Marciano was in some ways, a clever boxer traped in the body of a swarmer. Some of his KOs were nicely set up.

I think its a bit of a toss up, because if Firpo can land his right, Haye has a better right. Haye is faster, bigger with a better outside game.

Dempsey has the advantage inside and may well slip Haye's shots and drown him at mid/close range

I think its a a 50-50 but am sure it wouldn't go the distance

The only thing that seperated Firpo from all the other big men who were disposed of in the first two rounds was that he got lucky or Dempsey got careless.

If Firpo fought Dempsey 10 times that is probably the best that he would manage.

Well, Fireman Flynn III was the only scheduled 45 rounder of Sam's career, he'd just turned 27, and was performing for the movie camera. We don't get to see the versatility in how he deals with a big man like Wills, or a great smaller man like Gans or Ketchel, but we do indeed have extant film of him in peak form, something we'd still lack with Greb even if Harry's wins over Tunney and Walker turn up. (I'd still be craving nonexistent footage of the super scary two eyed 25 year old Greb of the fabled 45-0 1919 campaign. With 1910 Langford, we have that film.)

Even then the quality's not so super. Can't see all that much except that he's throwing everyone's favorite fireman a beating

I think that 200-215 lb Dempsey clears the division. He is not like Adamek. He has more power more viciousnes. He has all what a giant killer needs - power, speed, heart, chin and cleverness.
