Because Collins simply wasnt as good imo, its like saying Calzaghe was better than RJJ just because he beat him or Danny Williams was better than Mike Tyson because he beat him. Very flawed way of thinking and as ive already stated my thinking of the matter changes all the time, in all honesty its probably too hard to seperate them all when all factors are considered.:good

Watson in his prime and his home country got hammered and knocked out by Mike Mccallum. Steve collins in his 16 pro fight was competitive and went the distance in close title fight in the states.
Thats for anyone who thought Watson was a better fighter than Collins.

No respect for Collins in th e British thread who would of thought?

I bet Benn and Eubank respect him........

iv got loads of respect for collins, he did things the hard way, but you cant take away that he beat eubank, and certainly benn, when they were at the end of their careers..however, thats boxing...lewis never beat a prime tyson, holmes never beat a prime ali, tyson never beat a prime holmes etcx..etc..but the victorys stand, and thats what makes these 'fantsy' matchups so interesting.....

I bet they do to as do I.

But you can't use one common opponent as a reason why he is better. Styles make fights and all that!!!

That's one fighter, look at the overall bodies of work. But yeah, I see what you're saying overall.

Also, just so you know, the Collins/McCullum fight was in Collins' home state basically. The fight wasn't that close at all.

This is a total ass kissing moment from me:tong but this is why I respect you, because you can overlook the fact you don't like a fighter and still rate him. Shame a few others on here cannot do the same.

How do i make it right??? talk some sense its called opinion, look it up. Jesus you cant comment on anything which involves an Irish fighter without getting a backlash.

Watson was in his prime and failed big time. Collins was competitive and was a long way from his prime and had much learning to do.
Collins was a better fighter than watson and history proves that.

Since when is no one respecting him, people are simply discussing a debatable subject, isnt that what a forum involves??.
