    Al McCoy held the Maine state championship in each weight classification, so says Ripley's Believe It or Not!.

    You goy it h..Al McCoy of Maine fought from flyweight to his heavyweight
    bout with Joe Louis in !940..McCoy held 8 division titles in Maine.McCoy beat 4 ex title holders-Melio Bettina, Tommy Loughran, bob Olin and Lou Brouillard.His first bout was on Nov.1,1928...b.b.

    Dougie,when he started boxing at 14 years old,his second in the ring was his pediatrician !

    Is Al McCoy the guy where the phrase the real mccoy came from. Apparently he would throw matches and someone asked whether this was the real McCoy they were seeing in the ring. Or am i mixed up with another McCoy
