bowe was bigger..but if he had the same body fat percentage as baer he would have weighed the same.

Why do some feel that Max would win by KO? Bowe was one of only three Lineal HW Champs who were never stopped. Tunney and Marciano are the other two.

Toney (WBA Champ for a minute), Ibragimov (former WBO Champ), and Valuev (former WBO Champ) weren't stopped either. All of the other HW World Champs were stopped. It's a big deal!

Bowe would still be a little bigger. Bowe was 235Lbs. in the first fight with Holyfied and looked pretty lean. The most Baer ever weighed for a fight was 226 Lbs. and he looked a bit fat. Anyway, it would come down to who was the better boxer and that was Bowe.

bowe could have been stopped in the last holyfeild fight. he barely beat the count and was out on his feet. the fight was over! holyfeild had some kind of asthma attack and watched him recover and litraly backed off. Bowe was very, very, very lucky!!! and should have benn stopped by golota. those fouls gave him 3 Ko's defears in one night each!! Bowe WAS ko'd by lewis in his last amatuer fight.

Baer is getting overrated here. He was terribly unskilled. This would pretty much look like Louis-Baer. There is such a gulf in class between the two fighters.

Truer words have never been spoken. All old time fighters are so overrated here.

Personally, I think it´s Bowe getting overrated. Someone with a leaky defence like him who liked to go toe to toe and was hurtable by an ill Holyfield who never was a big puncher is picked over one of the hardest punchers in the division who additionally had one of the best chins? You must be kidding. Baer stops him late.

I wonder how many would agree with that part.

I'm having difficulty taking this seriously. This forum at times dissvolves into fairy tale-time. Just looking at film of both makes it's so abundantly clear how outclassed Baer would be. And what Holyfield would do with him...

Holyfield was way ahead of any of the 30's HW besides Louis in terms of skill. Not to mention he would be one of the biggest and most powerful of that era. He was known as an average puncher in an era packed with musclebound 230+ lbs guys who punched as mules. That's a very different story.

Too many. This is the part of Classic that I don't like. This stubborn insistence to look at a ball and call it square.

Apart from Louis the 30's HWs look quite bad (yes, Schmeling as well). I think they would stack up badly against any post-war HW era.

Yeah, yeah, newer is better, right. And fat is muscle these days.
