That's the key. Nothing worse then watching a fight with people who don't know the difference between a straight left and a right cross.
Same here Gaz. I dream of the day I meet someone who has the faintest idea who Sergio Martinez is. Heck, even knowing who Carl Froch is would be nice.
No, sorry Gaz, there's only 3 of my friends i'd let into my house for the boxing. . .4 at a push. Anyone ever had to actually tell someone they're not getting to watch the fight? Its not easy...but when you look around and you're watching it with a decent group, being a bit of a **** is a small price to pay IMO.
I would rather watch it with a big group of mates who know a little bit about boxing any day of the week rather than tell someone they can't come because they are not an encyclopedia on the sport. Its a ****'s trick to play is that telling someone they can't come and I wouldn't dream of doing it. Some people are really up themselves on this forum and they need to get off their high horses and stop telling themselves they are the next Larry Merchant or Bert Sugar.
Hatton-Pacquiao Haye-Valuev Haye-Ruiz Froch-Kessler Dirrell-Abraham Ward-Green (complete waste on money)
Just being honest with them , I also operate a strict 'no female' policy when the boxings on. Girlfriend doesn't get anywhere near the livingroom come fight time. Problem with watching it with people who dont really care is they're prone to talking(non boxing) and lack concentration. Where as if its with a small group of guys who've been hyped for months to watch a particular fight, the conversation is immense. Odds, fight views, scorecards and plenty of beer, meet the rest of the suckers later on if they're still partying. One more thing, if a friend is hosting and has invited heaps of people round, who aren't all that interested, i'd rather watch it alone.
What is this "Fight Snobs Aynonomis "?The night at the fights are for everybody and I enjoy watching with my friends, even though most don't know a left hook from left field.:good
I couldn't have put it better myself mate, I would never tell one of my mates, or you can't come, that is well and truely out of order.

i am cheap, i go to the pub. if there is a good fight on its normally a great atmosphere as there are a few locals who like their boxing.

I buy the vast majority. If Vitali is fighting on Primetime against a no hope opponent, with zero prospect of it being an interesting fight, and I'm supposed to be somewhere special with friends then I'll go and not lose sleep over it but otherwise I get all the boxing in. Can't understand these people who go looking for illegal streams of fights that are shown on TV yet claim to be real fans of the sport.
