It's funny because when defending Floyd's avoidance of Welterweight in retirement they say Cotto's facial reaction showed him scared to face the oh so impressive beating Mayweather gave the defensive wizard Gatti.



I don't think Mayweather is scared for his bodily safety per se, but doesn't think it's worth the risk and does **** when he feels like it. He thinks more like a businessman than a fighter, which is great for him and the IRS and all, but this is boxing. The money angle doesn't make too much sense however considering how much money a fight with Pac would make. I think he's too insecure to risk the 0, too arrogant to bend for fans or the sport, and too in love with his own image instead of the sport.

I think the fight will happen though. "Pacquiao's gonna agree to the drug tests, then we gon' woop his ass." After all this legal **** subsides, him and King will make the fight happen early 2011. Arum, Roach, everyone else seems to be under the impression early next year is the most probable date, and have said so this time around without attacking his character, which makes me think something's in the works. We'll see.

How do you know that they were all scared of Tyson? Tyson was better, stronger and faster than the guys you used as an example. All fighters have fear before a fight which is natural, but being scared to fight is rare...

Good post, but Floyd knows about risks just as PAc does. It just bothers me that people think that PAc is willing to take the risk, and Floyd isn't. It just sounds too weaselistic to believe to me.

There is no such thing as a business risk. These fighters are peers, and great fighters. To say one is afraid of the other, scared or doesn't want to fight tells me that you think that they don't want to make 25 mil a piece. That's crazy...

Some people are scared to fight man. These guys arent superhumanatsch Its the allure of money that enables them to conquer their fears (to an extent some pride) and weighed against getting beat up a little, money wins.
