Bute-Pavlik in March at 166lbs (catchweight)? *Updated*

Pavlik seems to be following the Ricky Hatton career path.

This could be his Pac fight.

 

Bute's last six opponents including Brinkley:

Jesse Brinkley (beaten by Sergio Mora, Alfonso Gomez, and Joey Spina)

Edison Miranda (ruined by Pavlik, stopped by Abraham)

Librado Andrade (stumbled into a left hand that Stevie wonder would have seen coming.)

Fulgencio Zuniga (the half shot 168 pound version, not the peak version KP beat hell out of)

Librado Andrade (Bute escaped a loss because the ref strictly enforced a rule many refs would have handled differently.)

Williams Joppy (Shut out by Jermain Taylor.)

I like Bute, but when you look under the surface, his resume' is thinner than my hair! I've never picked Pavlik to beat Bute, but it is a fact that KP would be the best fighter Bute has ever been in the ring with.

 

now...before you flip out after reading this...know that i wouldnt be on kelly to beat bute.

however...re-read that part of your post and ask yourself whether that's what you were saying prior to bute/andrade I. if andrade could follow the rules the fight would have been waived off. kelly pavlik has never been in that position.

now...do i expect that to happen? no, i do not. while i think kelly would lose this fight, its not a foregone conclusion. how can it be when, despite all of bute's advantages, a straight ahead banger took him out (just didnt get the ko b/c he can't follow the rules)

 

I think Andrade is better than Pavlik. Bika is not better, p4p, but I think he'd probably beat Pavlik at 168 lbs.

Pavlik would be the bigger name Bute faced! But i think that Bute his a nightmare for Kelly stylewise!

at 168 he equals Bika, wich is bute`s 1st or second win in my oppinion.

 

Where are you going with this?:huh Pavlik's has fought the better opposition? Sure (though the only ''big'' name he beat that Bute didn't beat even faster is Taylor and, well, you know what happened to him afterward...).

But that really is his only advantage over the southpaw, and you know that.

HBO already said they want it. Head to head I think Bute is the best in the division. I've said that many times. I think it would be a mistake to go from Vera to Bute in one jump.

Pavlik is the highest rankng WBO contender who is not in the tournament. If he is going to move up, I think he should force a fight with Stieglitz, and then assess the situation after that fight.

 

Bute by knockout. Bute is just too fast for Pavlik.

 

Pavlik the plotter moves forward with his double jab and gets blasted by Bute. He recovers in hospital and say "what happened wheres my ****ing beer?!"

 

again, i think bute is too big a jump for kelly...and i don't think he will win. everyone is right for pointing out why bute is all wrong for kelly. but don't sleep on the fact that a determined, sturdy chinned straight ahead banger has left bute like this before. I AM NOT SAYING THIS WILL HAPPEN. but it has happened before. if librado could follow the rules the fight was over. bute was out.

Your right of course. But what other fighter can make this pressure? Furthermore, it was the first time I saw Bute's fighting plan that bad. His plan was to hold when Andrade come inside and we all saw what happened. Bute got exhausted and the ref should have penalize him 1 point sometime in the fight (he even hold Andrade's leg at one time). But as I said, I dont see another fighter who could put that much pressure and we all saw what Bute did with Andrade in the rematch.

Bute rarely make the same mistake twice, its one of his big assets, he is not always the best, but when he makes a mistake, he adapt.
