Bute-Pavlik in March at 166lbs (catchweight)? *Updated*

I would say that the first point is debatable, but the second is not. Bute got up in 8 seconds, and went down at the 2:55 mark of the round.

Even if the ref doesn't stop the count, Bute beats it and the fight is over.

 

Because he can make Andrade pay for every single one of his flaws. The reverse is not true. Andrade's hands and feet are not fast enough.

 

I've actually timed that stuff a few times. Bute beat the count.

Ok but c'mon its Brian Vera, he lost 5 of his last 8 fights, he shoud not even be in the same ring as Pavlik. For me, even if Pavlik kill Vera this mean nothing. Vera only claim to fame is the ko of the overrated Andy Lee and knocking Demers with his elbow.

 

If Bute gets a food poisoning and has an allergic reaction to the meds that make all his metabolytes go crazy a few weeks before the fight, Pavlik has a good chance.

That's what happened before Bute-Andrade 1. In all Bute's career, it's the only time he got tired. In fact, Bute has one of the best stamina of the division (after Andrade probably).

That being said, I know that Pavlik was not well against Hopkins and I won't make any prediction based only on that fight. I could be surprised on fight night. If what we heard about Pavlik's training is right (he's serious, in good shape and motivated), we'll have a great fight to watch.

Of course, it's a comeback fight! Anyway, each time a fighter dominates another one, all we read is that the loser was not good. Look at all the people saying Andrade is only a human punching bag. He was number 5 of the division at a time, he must have done something good! So, if Bute loses, people will say he was overrated, if he wins, they'll say Pavlik was already done. On that logic, no fights should be organized. Pavlik is Bute's best option for March because both Dirrell and Kessler are not available. The super 6 losers may be Green, Johnson or Bika, depending if his fight counts in the tournament. Nothing there for Bute.

 

Still not convince, but if Pavlik is really the best option, Bute should really go up and try to shut Pascal mouth for good, or loose tryin.

 

One has to question the motive for asking for a catchweight. Pavlik has about 15 fights above 160. A rumour about Bute moving up surfaced, and then a short time later a rumour of a catchweight fight surfaced. Is asking for 166 somone's way of getting Bute to say "No?"

Still a catchweight would be more fair to Pavlik IMO.

 

The last time Pavlik went up, he wasn't used to that weight and one the reasons he was schooled by B-Hop. Bute wouldn 't do badly when moving down 2 pounds IMO. I think they are trying to get a compromise for both fighters :think

pavlik would light andrade up in a war. andrade is 6'2" and he charges in with his face at 5'8". that has never and will never be the way to beat kelly pavlik. it would be a war...but a war kelly would win.
