Boxing Goods at Car Boot Sales/Charity Shops

    I would go to a car boot sale and charity shops from time to time, mainly to look for vinyl records, but also hope to pick up some boxing books, tapes and DVDs.

    I scored some quality old fights all on VHS today, plus a couple of boxing books.

    The below were all from a Marshall Cavendish Video Collection:

    I always pick up books and DVD's, too many to mention, I get a few of an old fella who knows Nathan Cleverley and his old man.

    Amongst others I have:

    Calzaghe V Lacy/Calzaghe V Kessler/Calzaghe compilation Dvd/Hatton V Mayweather - Approx £2 each

    Bio's - Duran, Calzaghe, Lewis - 50p - £2

    Boxer series complete set - (on VHS) 72 videos and 72 magazines - £20

    I got the 15 videos for £4. The books were £1 each.:good

    *If I can get some idiot proof advice on how to record the VHS onto MP3 I will open a youtube channel and start uploading these....

    Were they the Marshall Cavendish collection - as it is called 'Boxer Series' too? That is cool that you got the accompanying magazines too:good

    It's probably the ones you mention, I've only watched a few of them despite buying them over a year ago. I remember when these were on sale in the shops years ago, a new one every week. It's mostly older fights with a young Tyson being the the most recent.

    Just had a look through my bookcase - got "Boxing Fitness" by Ian Oliver. Lots of good routines and tips in here, I tried doing crossovers the other day with my new speed rope and brought it down on the back of my neck and ear - hurt like ****.

    An interesting looking book I picked up is "Boxing" by A.J. Newton - apparently a Light-weight Amateur Champion 1888 and 1890. This was first published in 1910, haven't raed it yet.

    PS. Yeah, that was the same collection so I still have another 60 videos to go - I think this will be my new obsession until I get all 75 tapes! I cant wait to watch some of these old fights on a 42" LCD rather than youtube:bbb

    I found a boxing programme today for Roy Gumbs v Mark Kaylor from 14.09.1983 which I bought for £2. It has Angelo Dundee's signature on the back which tells me he was at the fight. It was a Frank Warren promotion at Alexandra Palace.

    I don't know how much it would be worth? I only bought it when I saw Dundee's autograph on the back!

    Class find and a steal at £2

    I must keep an eye out for boxing programmes. it is great to hear what others are finding at these places.

    Hope others drop a few lines on what they have uncovered at car boots and the like and this thread becomes a regular
