That's right. The division was weak.
Over 11 years of Lewis being a top fighter and there were very few fast heavyweights or men with a high degree of boxing skill or agility.

I think Bowe was more skillful than Donald, and just as quick in his prime.
But Bowe ducked Lewis so we can't fault Lewis there.

Early Riddick Bowe, Holyfield, Moorer, Byrd maybe ... those were fairly fast and skillful well-rounded top boxers. Not a lengthy list, and none were esp. agile on their feet, apart from an EARLY Holyfield (before LL was a contender), and Byrd in some fights.

Lennox's troubles with a faded Holyfield say differently.

    I agree.
Yet most people here are convinced LL beats Holyfield prime-for-prime ! And the idea that he'd be a 50-50 proposition against a peak Ali seems to be gaining ground too.

Agreed. A prime Lewis was the likely best of the super heavyweights but he excelled against big, slower men .. Ruddock, Golota, Grant .. he had major issues landing solidly often enough against a 37 year old Holyfield. Speed and a good jab could and did bother him. In addition, his chin while better than Wlad's was no where near s good as Joe Louis' .. only a flyweight like Princess would make such a dumb statement... Joe Louis took bombs from Galento, Buddy Baer and Joe Walcott that were every bit as hard as the shots that flattened Lewis .. the difference is that Louis got up from them and got up to win.

I like Lewis and feel he is top ten but styles make fights and he could be beaten by multiple fighters even at his best.

Hey, Naseem Hamed's "Fit For A Prince" line of organic soy crisps aren't half bad.

Nor "Michael Spinks' No-Jinx, No-Pesticide Orange Drink".

Before it matters I think one has to look at the why aspect of it. Point being if say against Tua you're winning comfortably for the first 7 rounds and don't seem any reason why you're going to loose going forward, why would you take the risk? And of course with many of his fights, Rahman II, Golota, Ruddock, Grant etc. it never made it that far to be an issue.

So the only fights this might pertain to are fights such as with Mercer and Holyfield, and perhaps a couple of others, but this is only a handful of fights.

As to where he ranks H2h I'm not sure, but I know it's high enough that there wouldn't be many fights that I'd bet alot of money against him on, I know that much.

I'm thinking Vitali Klitschko is the most complete hw H2H.

    POSITIVES
    -Great workrate
    -Iron chin
-Power in both hands (uses every punch)
-Mainly a headhunter (obvious when you're 6'8, but every fight he does land some serious body shots)
-Iron body (e.g. Lewis landing those 10 or so body shots, Briggs landing a few Saturday, and he didn't even grimace)
-Great defense (Rarely gets hit or hit clean)
    -Mentally strong
    -In shape constantly

    NEGATIVES
-Poor opposition (not as bad as people lead on tho)
    -Cuts easily
    -Heart (which is bull, IMO)
    -Injury prone

I'm fairly certian that he was always a vegetarian, he was 6'4 and weight 220-214 lbs his entire pro career, 214 vs Lewis.

The 2 accounts you'll usually read is he either had a liver disease and/or some kind of disease that ate away at his muscles. Most importantly you forgot to mention that his Wife is smoking hot.

Well, :pics doesn't really apply here, since you did include pictures in the post...but none were of the hot wife!!!!! ???!!! :cus

Also, looking at that him kneeling by those shrubs is totally bizarre - thinking that this string bean once pushed perhaps the GOAT Super-Heavyweight to the limit just blows my mind.

Edit: OK, you did include the wife. It didn't show up at first for some reason. Yeah, she's nice.

It isn't all about Russian Speed. There is much to be said for Russian Timing as well.

It's all part of what makes SNV a complete breakfast. I mean h2h Heavyweight. No...I mean breakfast. The world is ready for Niko Flakes.

    Agree.

Imagine for a moment if Ali had never fought Foreman. Today a certain section of fans would cry, look what Wepner did, look what Cooper did, look what Banks did, look what Frazier did, Foreman would have killed him!!! Yet we know this not to be true.
