    he actually got multiple cuts.
And why can't lewis fall to his stool, I imagine they were both dead tired and both had took some nasty shots.
And who cares if he didn't get a rematch. Lewis won. by stoppage. end of. :verysad

Oh, you haters. Vitali just "grinds people down" through "accumulation", does he? God, the stupidity on this forum always amazes me. I suppose he just quickly ground down Michael W. Acklie with invisible accumulation really fast!

He should have gotten rid of Briggs. Or at least put him down.

Ah, but in this case the champ was down 4-2 on all cards, and also hurt. It was a fan's fight, and the demand for a re-match was huge. Plenty of money was out there. A re-match in this type of fight is needed. Lewis opted out. While Lewis was older, he was still very good, and had fine performances the fight before this one.

And as I said, it was politics and injuries. Vitali is still being avoided at age 39! I do not think Wlad overshadows Vitali. They can be viewed as 1A and 1B.

Hilarious, Vitali would badly beat the Holyfield in 1999. Holy was losing and drawing to Ruiz around that time. Enough said.

We agree here, but the comeback is just one part of Vitali's legacy. Never being floored by a punch, a very high KO%, the best rounds won to round lost ratio among heavyweight champions, Ring Magazine Champion, and Ring Magazine come back fighter of the year are all excellent accomplishments.

I think Lewis at his best was a little better. Regarding being objective, are you the poster who said you think Vitali looks a little hurt int he round by round thread in the general forum? I have not seen the fight yet, but my hunch is that analysis was not exactly objective.

your point is? John Ruiz beat Kirk Johnson first, Ruiz killed Johnson he completely battered him. After the Ruiz fight Johnson was shot to pieces and was never the same. :yep:deal

what universe do you watch fights in?

but actually my point is Klitschko has stopped his share of guys early..he may have lost a bit of the one punch power though...a torn rotartor cuff can do that...

Lewis retired. Get over it. He'd been talking about retirement for 4 years. He hung around for the Tyson payday, that's all really. And the Rahman issue came up. Carrying on beyond Tyson fight was silly, just ego really.
Fans are a bit stupid and selfish and unrealistic sometimes. They think every fighter should risk life and limb and follow macho impulses just to satisfy the crowd, even when the fighter has millions of dollars in the bank and is approaching 40 !
Meanwhile they wag the finger at those who CAN'T seem to walk away at the right time.

The guy retired at 38, got married, enjoyed his wealth. You'd rather he'd risk brain damage fighting beyond where he really felt he should simply so VK can claim a legit victory.

I never warmed to Lennox Lewis but he gained a lot of my respect the way he retired. Why should he live his life for "the fans" ?
Champion is a title you can abdicate, and there's more to life than boxing.

    Wlad is number 1.

Holyfield took a prime Lewis very close in 1999 in the rematch.
Who has VK ever beat who's as good as that version of Holyfield ?
Even a Ruiz of ten years ago would rate higher than almost everyone, perhaps everyone VK has beat ! That's the reality.

    You haven't seen the fight.
The fight was horribly one-sided throughout. Everyone watching could see that.
At one point in an early round Briggs hit VK with a hard right hand to the body that I believe hurt VK. And why wouldn't it ? I believe such a punch would hurt any human being who ever lived on this earth. VK took it well.
Are you so obssessed with the guy's fighting prowess that you think he can't be hurt or feel pain ? Or are you so sensitive about him that we're not allowed to mention it ?
You haven't seen the fight, but I understand that makes no difference to you since most your arguments are based on a rigid agenda and not on recognition of facts.

I just think it was a major league ***** move how in the ring, Vitali asked for a rematch, you can clearly see lewis shake his head yes. Then vitali asks him to say it into the camra, and Lennox turned his back. Sorry, I just cant respect that.

No, he doesn't compare in terms of power imo. Briggs was getting hit with shots ALL NIGHT against Vitali and only got wobbled a few times. Against Lewis he got floored a bunch of times.
Perhaps you can say that he hit harder then foreman, but Foreman really lacked the pop that he had in the 70s, or even earlier in the 90s.

I thought it was a bit more impressive as well that a seemingly UNMOTIVATED Lewis beat a very motivated Vitali Klitschko who was getting his big shot.

Lewis seemed done motivation wise after he finished off what was left of Tyson. One big reason it seems he stuck around so long...to finish off Tyson so nobody can say he ducked him.

Motivation is huge and when it is faded, even gone, you can be in serious trouble.

Lewis found out when he fought Vitali, in my opinion, that he no longer had the hunger to be in tough fights...and he used up whatever crumbs were left out of his bag in that fight.

I like Vitali, think he is a very good fighter, but Lewis was better. The better "boxer" and even arguably the better "fighter"; although Vitalli is more willing to fight. However, when Lewis turns it on, the MFer can fight...which does seem to be one of the complaints of frustration Emanuel had with him.

    Two good fighters.

Look at the beating he took in each of those three fights.

Foreman won but did little damage overall. Lewis knocked him out in a wild brawl.

And Klitschko broke his eye sockets, his nose, and gave him a whopper of a concussion.

Based on actual power, Lewis and Foreman probably have the edge, but get in the ring with 3 guys and have one of them do THAT to you. I guarantee you'll say that man was the best and hardest hitting of the bunch.
