Calzaghe beat Hopkins clearly, if you doubt that so much answer these questions
1. If Hopkins thought he was winning, why would he be faking low blows trying to get points deducted?
2. Who do you think won round 11? The lone judge that scored for Hopkins gave that round to Hopkins (a clear Calzaghe round).
The other judges got it right. In truth people cant except Joe won and have trouble living with it on these pages, but consider this, In Hopkins 2 fights with Taylor combined, Taylors lead on the scorecards is less points combined than Joes lone fight with Hopkins.
Calzaghe beat Hopkins in a new division he hadnt fought before in America with Cortez as ref and with 3 American judges. He also beat Hopkins in between some of, if not Hopkins biggest wins of Tarver, Wright and Pavlik. For all those people who claim Hopkins was shot, tend to think that version of Hopkins would beat a younger version of himself. If they thought Hopkins was so shot and critisise Joe for beating him, why did they want a return .
Now these same people are excited about Hopkins fighting the younger Pascal over 2 and a 1/2 years later, when they thought Bernard was shot then .

Now Ward is getting all this praise for beating a fighter Calzaghe beat when past his prime who was undefeated and healthy whilst Ward gets praise for using Joes game plan of backing Kessler up and headbutting a rusty, double vision suffering fighter, 2 years later atsch. For all the delusional, look at the scorecards of the 2 respective fights and see they are not greatly dissimilar.
Then Ward beats A Green who had lost to Miranda, and is next fighting another fighter that Calzaghe gave his first official loss to 4 years earlier. Once again Wards at home, which is more than Joe had been at the same stages of their careers . Something else people try and critisise.

Consider this, all wins come back to Calzaghe as he remained undefeated, so if Hopkins wins it looks good for Joe.
I bet your all praying Ward dosent lose now, but if he does lose to Bika, Froch or Abraham it looks great on Joe :smooch

The Joke posters keep coming . Hopkins didnt do much clean effective work. Less than Calzaghe, who outlanded Hopkins. The diffence is Hopkins scored a KD in round when Joe was square on and landed with a headbutt before a punch landed to end round 7, which people remember, but look at the rest of round 7 and in my opinion, Joe clearly won that round.
Joes resume is arguable to Hopkins, and in my opinion greater, when broken down

Look...At the end of the day, it all comes down to this: Joe Calzaghe is a RETIRED Fighter. Let's all move the **** on. I have said time & time again that Calzaghe was a DAMN GOOD FIGHTER and there is NO doubt about that. But all Boxing fans (except his die-hard fans who just can't comprehend this) will always question his resume because outside of "Past-Their-Prime" Hopkins and Jones...None of those fighters are HARDLY RECOGNIZABLE. Sure Eubanks and Kessler were Solid wins and you could also call his win over Lacy Solid as well. But to any Boxing fan, how can you explain fighters like Hatton, Bruno, Witter and even Clinton Woods that had NO problems with "Crossing the Pond" to fight the ELITE FIGHTERS, yet Calzaghe failed to do so early on in his career.

It's kinda' funny that every Boxing critic, guru and forum poster have NO problems with questioning the Resume of Floyd Mayweather, or want fighters like Bradley, Alexander and Berto to fight Jesus and King Kong within their first 25 Pro Fights...Yet wanting Calzaghe to fight the Top-Elite-Level fighters in the World and do it outside of the UK...IS BLASPHEMY!!!

So yeah...we get it, Calzaghe is the Greatest. He would have surely beaten Jones and Hopkins or any Prime North American fighter like Wright, Taylor, Glen Johnson and more from 97-05.

So Hopkins was past his best. He lost to Calzaghe sandwiched between arguably his best wins of Tarver, Wright and Pavlik, was Ring LHW champ and P4P #3. It was a fight that many called for to happen, but when it did and Hopkins lost, they say Hopkins was past it, and then he beats Pavlik in fantastic style .
So when was Hopkins prime as many think the Hopkins that lost to Calzaghe would have beaten the 'Green one' as his fans then called him when losing to Jones . Was his prime losing his debut, being beaten by Jones, getting floored twice and drawing with Mercado or losing twice to Taylor. You forget Hopkins was a physically stronger fighter at LHW, and had all the advantages but still lost.
Jones had one a HW title, dropped back to LHW and beat the then #1 LHW, lost a return by KO, lost again by KO to the future #1 (Johnson) LHW then lost once more to the #1 LHW, he then had 3 wins on the go to become a Ring top 10 LHW fighter and lost again to The #1 LHW, but straight after beat Sheika who gave Diaconu a hard fight recently.
Eubank was a good win over a fighter with a KO win over N Benn.
Kessler after being beaten became a world champ twice more, and must be a great win for the amount of praise Ward gets for beating an unwell version.

Simple dummy, Woods was mandatory and crossed the pond for his title chance, like a challenger should, unless they are American and Calzaghe is champ. What Elite did Witter face? Ndou and Alexander . Everyone knows he HID out in Wales his entire career, and only came out after all the threats were too old or well past their primes. Therefore, he beat no prime ATGs in his career and instead choose to fight taxi cab drivers, C & B level competition and a few past prime champions.
That makes him far less than a great in any real boxing fans eyes.

Out of 24 world title fights Calzaghe only had 11 in Wales atsch, less than half of his world title fights, and he fought in 6 different countries atsch during his reign.
