PBF-Oscar was 50/50 fight. Pac was a 3-1 underdog against Oscar. Fighters are judged by the challenges and risks they take, Pac took a big risk jumping 3 divisions within 1 year. It was a great win and one of, if not the biggest shock win of the decade. Not just the fact Pac won, the fact that he anihilated DLH, meanwhile PBF gets an SD.
While Pac has no win that compares to Pea beating Chavez at or near his prime, overall I give the resume edge to Pac. I do agree that people forget how good McGirt was at that time.
Who cares how far an underdog he was? Is that how you judge who's quality of win is better? You are conveniently leaving out the fact that Floyd moved up and fought Oscar at his natural weight. Pac fought him at a weight he hadn't made for 8 years, and then preceeded to make weight in such a disastrous way that he only rehydrated on fight night to what he should have come in at in the weigh-in. Pac was officially the bigger man on fight night. That's how bad a condition Oscar was in. And who cares about the SD, you know aswell as I do it was a clear Mayweather win, about 8-4 in rounds.
People keep saying Oscar hasnt made weight in 8 years, wow a fact to try sway what was really happening. How about the fact that Oscar was gonna rematch Floyd at 147 and just a few months before, fought Forbes at 150 to prepare himself going down to 147. Its not Pac's fault Oscar was an idiot in making that weight, thats like saying Tarver's win over Jones wasnt great because RJJ dropped his hands and got caught. Pac was bigger man on fight night, unofficially, for all you know Pac wore 3 jackets and trainers whilst Oscar stripped down. Officially, Pac weighed in 142 for a WW fight and Oscar weighed in at 145. It was a boring SD win for Floyd, meanwhile Pac shocks the world and completely anihilates DLH when he was the a big underdog. Unless you predicted Pac by KO or even a Pac win, you or anyone else have no right to descredit that win, cos at the end of the day, you were proven wrong. Fact.
I'm not even going to bother responding in length to some of the idiot points you've just made, as usual. It isn't anything like discrediting Tarver's victory over Roy at all because he 'dropped his hands' and got caught. For what it's worth, I don't think Tarver's win over Roy is that great, and it's discredited because of Roy being past-prime and dropping down in weight and clearly not being in peak condition. Same with Pac v Oscar. I had originally thought Oscar would win, though I don't remember making any clear predictions on here. Then I started to sway a bit, still siding slightly was Oscar, but I didn't think it was the mismatch everyone made it out to be. I saw the weights and Oscar and immediately sided with Pac. He had his size and power advantage over Pac, as size as he came in smaller than Pac, his strength and power was immediately negated because he was ****ed.
And? Everybody knows he won. It's like holding the first Ramirez fight against him when it was probably the worst robbery of all-time.
I like how you label Pacs victims as past prime and then use Nelson and Chavez there is a good arguement to say Ramirez was past his best too. They're still great wins though! Just because Morales was past it doesnt mean knocking him out for the first time when he was p4p top ten isn't impressive!
Did you really just say that? So RJJ vs Ruiz is a normal win and not that impressive? So Giants vs Patriots 2007 is normal victory? So Douglas vs Tyson is a normal victory? So US vs USSR 1980 is a normal victory? Did you just start watching sports or something?
i just do not understand how this view has become popular that floyd beat oscar easily. i have watched the fight a few times, and i could see how anyone could have floyd by a point, have it a draw, or have oscar by a point. to score it 8-4 for floyd seems to me to be totally bogus. i think you would have a very difficult time justifying that card on a round-by-round marking basis.
1. Stop talking about other sports. I'm talking about boxing. If you can't talk to me about boxing, **** off. 2. What has Jones v Ruiz got to do with it? No, it's a good win. A former middleweight up to heavy and outclassing a 2 time heavyweight champion, although a pretty poor one. 3. What has Douglas v Tyson got to with it? And no, that's a good win aswell over a physically primed but not mentally peaked Tyson, he'd already waned on moving his head and had already started loading up on big single punches. 4. I'd rather judge on what the fighter looks like on the night rather than betting odds. What I saw was an already past-prime De La Hoya who was physically drained to the point where he was smaller on the night than a guy who'd just moved up 3 weights. In such a condition that he couldn't even let his hands go with any conviction. It is not a great win.
