I take Ali, in a one sided Decision or TKO

They actually sparred when Ali was only 19 I believe. Johansson was preparing for the Patterson bout, and Ali got the best of him, to the surprise of everyone in the gym.

Ingemars trainer said some words of encouragement, to which Ingemar replied: "Bull****. The kid kicked my ass" or something very similar to that quote.

I can find it if requested

Its on youtube I think...I don't know if I'd say ali kicked his ass...plus it was sparring, and that means ingo likely wasnt loading up with thunder....where as ali's main weapon, speed, he can and did totally use.

Ali by mid/late round TKO. Johansson might get some of his right hands in but a peak Ali's constant footwork and reactionary head movement will take off most of the impact. You could hardly get a solid punch at him.

Ali would walk this one. Johansson was a good European level fighter, who got lucky against Floyd in their first fight. Muhammad would finish this one before the halfway stage.

He got "lucky" twice against the number 1 contender in the world and the heavyweight champion. Johansson was legit. Nearly had Patterson finished off in the first round of their third fight as well.

There's a lot in what you say. Mind you,I think Floyd's suspect chin flattered Ingo a little bit.

Eddie Machen didn't have a suspect chin though.

Nothing against Ingo, but I'd even take Joe Bugner to beat him, hypothetically.

Bugner could beat him or he could be another one in the long list of British heavies that were beaten by Johansson with ease.

Ingemar Johannson was an exciting fighter to watch and possesed a number of admirable attributes. He had a solid punch, good right hand, and a lot of heart. He was also a very respectable personality both inside and outside the ring.

I don't know if I can see him posing very many problems for Muhammad Ali, however and certainly not at his absolute best. Of course, Ingo's heart and power are two factors that always need to be taken seriously, but I just don't think that he could effectively compete with Ali's great speed, skill, solid chin, etc... Ingo's chin was also suspect, as both of his rematches with Patterson ended early, and while Ali was not a particularly hard hitter, the accumulation of shots would take their toll over a number of rounds. I think I'd pick Muhammad to score a stoppage on cuts, or multiple knockdowns, somewhere between the 10th and 12 rounds... Ingo would land some decent shots here and there, and might even steel a round or two, when Muhammad slows down for an occasional breather, but at the end of the day, this isn't a match that I can see Ingo winning...
