Well, to be fair to Dana White's point. A lot of the time, people commenting on MMA before weren't in the know, and would give the same old song, "It's not a sport, its just human cockfighting without rules, and people who like it are ******s."

Luckily people don't get away with this hasty generalization/ad hominem anymore. ESPN should cover it, as it is a sport that has grown in popularity. It does an OK job at it as of now, but ESPN is a bigger fish in itself. In the middle of MLB playoffs, early, mid NFL, and with basketball coming up. These sports are still bigger and more popular than MMA. But it should probably have more coverage than less popular sports that get covered for the sake of them being womens sports. I don't know any female basketball stars, or anyone who is a fan of the WNBA for example.

You mean like they did up until the last 2 years or so?

MMA can exist and thrive without ESPN. It would help to have ESPN on board, and they really have little choice with the current popularity of the sport.

Sorry for pointing out that the UFC has made it to where they are without ESPN, and often having ESPN **** on the sport of MMA, which used to be the norm and is still done by guys like Wilbon on PTI.

But you're right, a total non-story about a tweet nobody cares about will bring down the UFC once ESPN stops supporting the sport...oh wait, they don't support it anyway.

dana whites attitude may well hurt mma in a big way once people who want to **** on mma start focusing on his many stupid foot-in-mouth comments of dana white.

but im sure you wont mind considering dana is your god:smh

Again you don't get it do you? I never said the UFC needed them to get big, I said the UFC DOESN'T need to **** them off. It could be a PR nightmare for them if the biggest sports media outlet shits on the UFC every chance they get. What about that don't you understand?

I doubt it. They fall out with ESPN and there will be a hundred other TV channels fighting to pick them up

Do you live in the US? There isn't many sports stations. NONE as big and influential as ESPN. I hate it but its true.

So long as UFC are pulling in the viewers i highly doubt they'll be booted off the channel cause some big mouthed egomaniac decides to have a tweet. Even if they were, they would have great success on any channel

This thread aint really about that though is it? It's just another was of saying "Dana White is a ****". And you wont get an arguement from me there

Well its not like ESPN shows the fights, they don't have a contract to SHOW the fights they just scrolled the results like they do for every other game/sporting event. So it doesn't really matter to ESPN, I'm just saying its not that smart to become enemies with such a big/influential sports outlet.

But don't you think it is crazy for Dana to complain about positive coverage? He wants UFC respected around the world (I say ufc because dana cares nothing for mma as a whole) and to lash out when espn is coming on board is stupid.

As far as a tweet nobody cares about, dana is famous enough now that people will jump on his words. You can bet espn knew about the tweet within minutes.

Ask Dana White what Anheuser Busch thinks about mindless babble.

The quote was "You guys needs to e mail and tweet ESPN for f***in up the results not me."
Now there are two was this could be interpreted
    1) Im a total idiot and this is an attack on ESPN
    2) The rest of you are total ****ing idiots and need to grow up

Just for the record Im not Dana's biggest fan, but guys, seriously. Are you all a bunch of 8 year olds or what?
Can we get back to discussing the sport of MMA, or is that out of the question?

Well this video clarifies this topic.

People here are saying Dana shits on ESPN while he actually asks people to stop whining at HIM for what ESPN did. I don't see any conflict between the 2 parties here.

"@danawhite: You guys needs to e mail and tweet ESPN for f***in up the results not me"

thats the quote I found. it can be interpreted differently then what dana says later on this video which is stop complaining. who's fault is it for the misinterpretation?

did you watch the rest of the interview? "he[frank shamrock] tried to make peace with me,.... I dont want to work with a douchebag like him":patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch

dana's mouth is going to get him into trouble, like it has in the past.
