He's something of a disingenuous *****, but I think the overt nut-hugging of sooooo many of those cads across the pond (Does anybody nut-hug fighters like the Brits? Seriously) is in large part responsible for the hate Khan receives on ESB.

It wouldnt suprise me if Khan did get the better of Pacman in sparring, because it is only sparring. Hes fast as **** and Mannys defence has never been great. Means **** all though.

Wouldnt last long in a real fight though would he.

Well as we have never met you shouldn't really assume I've never spoken to him, or spent a day with him. I actually wouldn't particularly want to spend the day with him, as I find most UK under 25's to be a bit of a mystery...

But anyway, when I say "media mode" I am referering to the media impression TK puts out, interviews on TV, most of his radio work, anything to do with them publicising. That is not the real Amir Khan, it is some Max Clifford style PR - don't offend anyone bollocks.

I just actually re-read some of the post above. I am not saying he pretends to be this persona on camera, and then off camera is the antichrist. I am just stating he is a completely different person in real life. Not necessarily bad

khan straight off the plane, just started his training and he's already holding his own with paccy 2 weight classes above him. Roach better stop them sparring before khan ruins him.

that's the downside of being a public figure, you are always under scrutiny, sometimes held at higher standards like you are far from human. an otherwise normal guy would look like an ******* if put in the same situation

Yes I know what you're referring to by 'media mode'. But again, you're criticizing him for doing what 90% of the people in his position do? People like him who have been put in the media spot light from a very young age.....Oscar Dela Hoya, Rooney, numerous popstars etc.....they all do this. Being well behaved infront of the camera is nothing out of the ordinary for a celebrity. Just like speeding in a flash car or sending naked pictures to a girl he's seeing, is nothing out of the ordinary for a 21 year old.

The impression that some people give off on here, is that Khan is a deceitful person gleaming with unrivalled arrogance, and is coming for their daughters, sisters and girlfriends.

    It's ridiculous.

Well although he's actually almost 24, but that's being pedantic. However it's true those types of behaviour are ordinary for an ordinary person of that age.. but he isn't ordinary. TK push him forward as a role model, get him doing charity events, going to schools, in doing that he immediately takes on a responsibility.

I would have the same opinion of any other professional in the same position, like I said I would respect him much more if he was just himself. Someone mentioned Rooney and flintoff, both are an arse, give a pleasant and nice interview, but they do it tongue in cheek, they present themselves to the media but make it clear they are on their best behaviour. I don't think I've particulary well explained the above but you might get what I mean

No I get what you mean. The likes of Flintoff know they're not angels, but they've got the humour and charisma to make the public still warm to them. Khan on the other hand is as thick as a plank, and doesn't quite possess the charm that they do. But that's hardly his fault. He's just not as media savvy as the others.

In my opinion he nowhere near as bad as a Joe Calzaghe, but has he ever recieved the same level of criticism in this regard? Nope, he hasn't.

True, but I suppose he never really broke into any real media attention until after the Lacy fight and had his ring exploits to back himself up. Prior to that, and even for a long time after if you said "Joe Calzaghe" to a member of the public they would of said "who?"

He forgot to add that Pacquiao has pinned his left hand on his back.
Well Khan is taller and Pacquiao is advised not to knock him the **** out.
In a real fight, Pac knocks him out brutally, but sparring is another thing.

But since that Lacy fight where his name began circulating a lot more, not once have I seen him be on the end criticism from the British sports fans, as much as Khan has.

"It would be the toughest two weeks coming up," said Roach. “It would be a big week for sparring. This week and next week. Manny right now is 100 percent in the mitts, but only 50 percent in sparring. So, we'll get about 30 rounds this week and 30 next week, and then we start tapering off. I have more sparring there, better sparring. No, not better, but more of the style I've been looking for."
