I dont think Patterson ever in his carrer was so motivated and in such a splendid condition as he was in the second fight with Johansson.

Hm, Personally, I´d put Tyson between Foreman and Patterson, since while he did fave more big punchers he also had a much better defence. I agree with Dempsey.

Could very well be the case, but frankly I don't think there's enough substance in Ingo's career to confirm that his chin was particularly durable. Not saying that it wasn't, but of all things in boxing, a chin is something that has to be proven under reasonable circumstances before a fighter can receive any great appraisal as having one.. George Chuvalo proved his chin, Muhammad Ali proved his chin, as did Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield and numerous others... Ingo never did this or at least certainly not to the extent that they did.. Patterson was the only man he fought that most people would give any credit as being able to hit, and in all honesty, he was not one of history's renowned punchers... He was 190 lbs and KO'd Ingo within 6 rounds or less on two occasions.. Hell, there are even some who give Frazier a hard time for being stopped early by a man who WAS an all time great puncher.

Fair enough, in fact I was actually thinking about doing the same anyway... Let's make it official, Tyson goes between Foreman and Patterson..

Then let's sum up the story with full accuracy and detail....

    Once upon a time,

There was a fighter named Ingemar Johannson, who never faced anyone who was known for their power.. One day, he fought a man who was typically regarded as a modest hitter, but on just two evenings, stepped up his game and KO'd Johannson early... The said man, never again repeated this performance, and Johansson resumed his career fighting light hitters...

    -The End-

How do you rate Machens and Coopers punching powers?
    Hein Ten Hoff could punch...

I agree with that. I wasn´t argueing for Johannson having an iron chin, just wanting to deliver an additional explanation. IMO there is never one reason for something, life is more complex than that.

:good Sorry for the pointless discussion, it´s a reflex when Patterson and chin are put into one sentence.

Machen retired with a 45% KO percentage, and only fought Johannson for 2 minutes, so I don't think his name brings much to the table. Henry Cooper also retired with a less then 50% average, and when he faced Johannson, had very few fights, with most of his KO's coming against sub-200lbs Euro fighters... Its possible that perhaps both could crack, but neither were world class hitters, and didn't last very long against Johannson to really tag him with much of anything ( though Cooper did last 5 rounds, in a bout that I didn't see. )

so who else knocked out those dudes? let alone with one shot! patterson knocked out a lot of fighters. archie moore, henry cooper, tommy jackson with fine left hooks but the best he ever threw was against ingo. against second and third teir opponents he was very potent as a puncher. floyd put quarry over when shavers, norton, frazier and lyle could not manage it.

Yeah it does. It shows Ingo ducked Ali and that Ali could always box circles around Ingo.
