Yeah, that's always the first that comes to my mind.
Not only because it was such a dramatic shocker of an ending, but perhaps because both men are mostly otherwise unmemorable.

 

For history, Marciano-Walcott.

It was the most dynamite right hand ever landed in heavyweight history, and without that comeback, heavyweight history alters. The Marciano legacy is no more, the mystique of the undefeated fighter never gets as potent as it is today, and heavyweight ATG lists look different.

Its the greatest and most significant comeback ever, imo.

And yes, Rock was well behind. I know some who had the fight close, but my father, who was there live and whose scoring ability I trust, had Walcott set to walk away with it. I believe him.

 

The full fight is on youtube. I had it pretty close going into the 13th. Walcott was ahead mainly due to the 3 previous rounds inwhich Rocky was blinded by the same type substance that blinded Clay (Ali) against Liston. No moment of this fight was easy or clear for either of them.

 

Leonard/Hearns was a good one.

 

Easy, hell no. Rocky always brings it.

I myself don't remember having it particularly close. I don't have the numbers or the rounds in front of me. I'll rewatch.

 

Ali-Lyle. Not the greatest though because it was an ugly finish

 

Marciano Charles II?? Charles won 1 mere round on all 3 of the judges scorecards.

Had the pattern gone the way I think it went, 5 would have gone to Marciano before he got blinded, swifting the flow of action back to Walcott.

Over all a pretty close fight.
