How would prime Mike Tyson do against the pre-Berbick version of Pinklon ?

Pinky was SHOT when Tyson won VS him.

Pink takes close decision IMO as Prime Tyson BARELY won decision VS jouney-man Tillis [2 judges scored it 6-4]]. My scorecards had Tillis Wiinning 5-4-1. Prime Pinko could box much better then teh Fightin' Cowgirl , so he win by decision IMO

I think Tyson beats him regardless... The Thomas who beat Spoon in 1984, may have extended him the distance in similar fashion to the way that Tucker did, but Tyson would have kept him on the defensive..

Tyson beats any version of Pinklon Thomas, Prime Pre Prime, Post Prime, Tyson would beat him into the afterlife

I think Tyson has always got this.

Too potent on the offensive, and Pinklon didn't have the proper tools to stifle that rhythm.

Doesn't matter which version of Mike: Once he's in it, and truly trying to take your head off, he's a handful, and it takes a great heavyweight to handle him.

Well a lot of people would argue that Tyson of 1988 would have beat Buster Douglas.
I think Pinklon Thomas was more genuinely past his best in 1987 than Tyson was in 1990, judging from recent form and ring performance.
Thomas was coming off 3 or 4 very lacklustre showings. The word among some critics was that he was washed-up already. And shoulder issues had diminished his punching considerably.

I think Pinklon always had issues with his defence, but he had a GREAT chin. The main difference was he had more snap and better timing in 1982 -'85 and was fresher, more focussed. So put him in with Tyson he'd still take a fair bit of punishment but he'd land better punches and in greater volume too. He'd break Tyson's rhythm but probably wouldn't be elusive and disciplined enough to break Tyson down systematically. It would be a back-and-forth war.

I can envisage a very competitive and gruelling fight over the full 12 rounds, a close fight.

Same outcome could even come sooner. Tyson was superior to Thomas always.

its a bit like the ali-ingo thread, it is dificult weighing up a guy with a short peak against a genuine ATG.

Pink had the tools, his Ko win over a beter tillis than the guy tyson fought was impresive, he maintained that form for a bit, drew with coetzee and shaded spoon, struggled with weaver before knocking him out then faded away.

Tyson by KO everytime, it might not have been a 'prime' Thomas but no one had ever destroyed him in the manner Tyson did. And this is a guy who fought Coetzee and Witherspoon, 2 fighters known for their right hands.

Is this some kind of sick joke? Pinklon RUINS Tyson. This is the same guy that was awesome enough to do the soundtrack to SNV's next film release!
