lost a UD to Felix Sturm for his WBO title in 2003 as well. But isn't the level of opponent Macklin should be fighting now if he wants to move on to world level.

...in Spain via a one point split decision. Looks to me like he didn't 'beat' Konecny. That said, it counts as a win I guess and he obviously lasted the distance. What he might have stole 6 years ago is completely irrelevant considering Macklin was supposed to be fighting 'world class' and instead he's fighting a guy ranked 217 in the world!

Shame for Mack cuz these fights are only gonna hold him back. Hopefully he keeps his head down, gets through this comfortably and soon enough he'll get a top fight be it against Sylvester or another alphabelt holder.

Clev would be better off fighting Tony Bellew now then another aged Spaniard too!

I know yeah. Was this not supposed to be a better bill than the Mag 7!?

Looks like absolutely no chance of that now!

No complaints about Cleverly's opponent. Let's not forget that he's only 23. Bit of a pathetic opponent for Macklin on the other hand. As someone said, this is three "stay busy" opponents his fought now. In fairness to him, it's not like he hasn't looked for big fights, plenty of big fights fell through and it was through no fault of his own. Andy Lee ducked him too.

I thought that, but after trying to find out more info about the fight, it doesn't seem like it was a 'robbery', just a close fight that could have went either way. Konecny was deducted a point though, which would have meant the fight would have been a draw if he hadn't of lost the point.

It's a good win, but it seems pretty irrelevant right now considering it was 6 years ago. Since then his only notable opponent was Zbik (which he lost by stoppage in the 4th round), the rest of his opponents have been poor and he has been struggling with a hand injury (broke his hand in a fight, rematch with Konecny was scrapped after he injured his hand etc.).

KO'ed in 4 by Zbik who is a feather duster. Not a good opponent at all. Clevs looks like he can take a beating and not much else.
