I dont think of them as bad people, they need to be educated and guided. Problem is alot are "pasaway" which make it very difficult for the govt. The govt put a sign up saying "DO NOT CROSS HERE" they disregards it, too lazy to use the proper crossing. Drivers jump red light etc etc. They see you cross the road they speed up

Well Im glad its all changing now cause its about time they look after their own place, home, land and not use it like a junk yard. A country can be poor but it doesnt have to be dirty.

    well anyway thats reality...

You can't say they're uneducated as well but misguided yes. Come on, most Filipino that immigrate to North America excels in academics. You should know if you were an immigrant or know some immigrants. The education in the Phil is top notch sadly not all schools are recognized in the some countries such as the US and Canada.

I can only read and hear news about my home country, there are some ups and downs but the Philippines is far from hell or junk yard that you're thinking about.

Well, if some random black dude suddenly beats me up for overhearing me saying "black person" in Spanish, then who will be the intolerant and racist one?

I'm sure those guys know the difference between a slur and an everyday, ordinary word.

They arent animals like a bull, who automatically and uncontrollably go crazy once it sees a red cape.

Actually Filipinos who emigrate tend to do very well.

In the US, Flipinos are better off than even the caucasians statistically. It has probably something to do with the fact that they came to the US on a skill requirement like nurses or doctors. There are currently more than 18,000 filipino doctors in the US and hundreds of thousand of nurses, physical therapies and occupational therapist.

That just shows that the limitation is not imposed by our innate nature but rather something else. I used to blame the Spanish bureaucracy that we inherited but we can not blame them for eternity. At some point, it has to be us.

And yes knives, it also bugs me that a lot of foreigners and some Filipino-foreigners have a negative first impression of my country.

We are not as clean and as antiseptic as Singapore.
    Not as rich as China.
Not as technically advanced as Japan.
Not as tourism friendly, infrastructure wise as Thailand.

But were not a despicable, disgusting hellhole, either.

Sure some parts arent the best. But you should look at the big picture before judging the whole country.

The Philippines is awesome. I'm personally discovering it myself.

We all know the derogatory nature of the term Negro but the most respected organization that gives scholarships to african-americans (used to be that the appropriate term was "colored") is the United Negro College Fund. Do they need to change their name too?

Racial terms are always taken on the context on how it is said, where it was said - simply contextual meaning, just as everything is. It is like Katrina FLOORED New Orleans could not be used in boxng terms to mean STUNNED.

No bula, you have to understand other cultures. Call a pakistani a "paki" on their face, its a short for pakistani right? but it isnt as simple as that. While are are at it why not call the chinese a "china man" all seems harmless too.

I remember a thread about this australian guy saying "your mum" to his foreign work mate and he nearly go killed for it  Apparently its a normal joke to them but not to the other guy.

Well like I said, I wouldnt risk it myself but if you find yourself comfortable calling them that way then why not?

Im really just going by what I know.

It's stupid if they'll get angry with that. By that logic, all dark skinned people should all go crazy and kill every Latino he sees if he lived in a Spanish speaking country. He'll hear that word almost every day.

It's like saying the description of their skin color or race is a bad, disgusting, offensive word.
