Agree, although I would say, that at the most, Norton had a style that could make him look! uncomfortable, see to me Ali liked to use his legs, peck away with the jab, then drop the occasional right hand on you, only against Norton, Norton seemed to stay on the periphery of the kill zone, try to make the jab fall short, and throw that overhand right, I also think Ali had trouble landing that right hand because Norton always crouched over away from it, if Ali wanted to land it, he had to reach in with it more.

I dont have anything against the assertion Norton's style could make him feel uncomfortable, but I dont think his style was why he lost, would lose to Norton in normal circumstances.

its dumb because this man made boxing what it is today and to use the words overrated in a sentence with his name in it is absurd.

people who don't know anything about boxing know who Ali is ,he's in the school books not many fighters can claim that.

I don't know of any people that actually know boxing that would ever rank him number one pound for pound. He was a great, intuitive fighter and tough as nails, but yes, he is overrated by many because of his crossover appeal.

You're the reason why I asked the question in the first place.

You're getting what he did OUTSIDE the ring mixed up with what he did INSIDE the ring, because of your emotion for the man. (nothing wrong with that).

But I'm asking you to put what you feel about him aside, and say whether you think he was over rated or not in the ring.

I never once argued what he did for boxing.

you can't compare him against fighters of today ,todays fighters have more to deal with as far as equipment and even the boxing gloves were/made different. And remember they took 3 years from him.

Overrated please are you seriously for real.

I agree, he can't be compared to fighters nowadays. His level of comp was outstanding.

Do you think he was p4p goat, or just the goat at heavyweight, or great but over rated?

P4P great no, but he was most certainly the best HW that ever laced them up.

Bear in mind he achieved this with a 3 year layoff too, had he never been banned from fighting then this wouldn't even be in question. He's definately a top 10 P4P fighter.

Its hard to judge Ali he is No1 HW in my book because a 1963 Clay/Ali was to me unbeatable. And he was damn ear unbeatable til 68. He lost almost 4 years of what could have been his prime.

I find it laughable that people would bring the Frazier-Foreman-Norton argument when these guys fought a mere shell of Alis former self and didnt Ali still beat them all?

Ali has an amazing resume, easily number 1 Heavyweight GOAT.

No other Heavyweight resume even compares, sorry they just don't.
