basically, he's a tall rangey outboxer with great speed, a really high workate, and pretty descent snap in his punches. the flaws in his game is that he needs to tighten up his defense more and he engages in fire fights when he doesn't need to. all in all, he's an excellent world class talent with endless potential. definitely a top contender at light heavy

Just about a perfect description. Not really identical (by any means), but he has a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses as Paul Williams. Good power when he sits on his punches, but doesn't do it enough. Tools to box well on the outside but prefers to fight inside. Could probably be a great but boring fighter if he decided to fight on the outside and hide behind his jab, but instead he'll be a very good but exciting fighter because he tends to get drawn into brawls.

Hes a tall LHW, dosent use his height and reach too much, but seems comfy fighting in close. He has fast hands, and as hes got older started to get physically stronger and punch harder. Not a bad combination puncher either. As pointed out earlier, he is a world class talent who seems willing.
He is in line to fight Braehmer (WBO LHW champ), but Braehmer has asked to avoid that fight at this time to get a unification, so Nathan is fighting for the Interum title next,

Can see where your coming from with that.

I'd say he puts his punches together more fluidly than Williams, and shows a bit more nous.

But yeah he needs to improve his defense a bit for world level.

My ideal fight for him would be Tavoris Cloud. Cloud can bang but if Clev could see out the first 4 he'd outwork Cloud down the stretch, heck, if Road Warrior can nearly do it Cleverley definately can!

He's nowhere near the finished article yet. He trained with Calzaghe in the early days and has grown up with quality sparring/training with him. To keep up with Calzaghe, you've got to be quick and Cleverly has got fast hands and throws a lot of punches. Doesn't put enough into his punches for my liking. Has long arms and could jab wonderfully well if he concentrated purely on his boxing.

Started career as a SMW and got wobbled a few times down there against journeymen. If you can find it somewhere, he looked in all sorts of trouble against Joey Vegas. But since his move to LHW (and probably filling out as he grew fully), he's looked solid when he's taken shots from decent punchers. Has a leaky defence. A thinking Bernard Hopkins type fighter would absolutely wipe the floor with him currently. He hasn't yet learnt the lesson that if he charges in gung-ho, he's going to come unstuck. He has a lot of heart though and likes to trade so he's exciting to watch. He's the kind of kid that would really benefit from a bit of a schooling because he won't change a thing while he is still winning.

He's now concentrating on boxing full time after graduating from university earlier this year.

In conclusion, Cleverly is an exciting young talent with lots of flaws but bags of potential. If he got a top class trainer who he bought into, he'd be able to hang comfortably with all the top guys in 3-4 years.

he is good but is overhyped slightly in terms of potential, if hopskins get past pascal wouldnt mind seeing him hang em up against cleverly
