Ali was a great heavyweight, achieved a lot there is no denying that. But the greatest? No.

I thought Ali beat Norton twice even though it was close ones. His Win over Listen was great. He also beat dangerous punchers in Frazier and Foreman. Mostly everybody thought Ali will get completely destroyed by Foreman. The way Foreman destroyed opponents is the reason why he was a huge favorite over Ali. But the way Ali tko Foreman is far far far better then Duran wins over Leonard in which i bet you will disagree.

Sorry Griz -- but anyone who uses the name Muhammed Ali, and the term over rated to start a thread should be shot right on the head of their pecker!

Greatest HW of all time for me as he has the best resume of any HW and he would be a nightmare H2H for any HW of any era.

Not bad for a guy who missed three and a half years of his prime.

We really may never have seen the best of Ali.

It's actually a little frightening to think about combining the best qualities of post exile Ali with the best qualities of young Ali.

Muhammad Ali is not the best P4P fighter in history. That belongs to Ray Robinson. Henry Armstrong is at NO.2!

Ali is up there, but people are exaggerating when they claim he's the best ever, P4P!

Gotta agree with mostof y'all..At his absolute prime..which IMO is about or around the 1st Liston fight..I just can't see any other HW beating that version of Ali..Truth is IMO,that version of Ali had the best set of skills..physically and technically..of any HW in history..

His resume',of course,is undisputed..Nobody,but nobody in the HW can compare..Sure he had his nemesises..like all great fighters do..Norton,Smokin Joe etc..but all of these cats came after a 3,5 year lay-off..some of the best years of his life lost..

Overrated as an icon?Maybe..but as a fighter?Absolutely not.

Greatest HW that ever lived.Period.P4P?I'd have to say mos def Top10..I'd go even further and say..if he had'nt lost those prime years to exile...he'd most def be the greatest P4P.Just my humble opinion.

The Muhammad Ali who took the title from Liston in 64..went on to whoop everything before him until exile...simply has no matches in the history of HW boxing.

Anyone who says Foreman would have won the rematch doesnt know **** about boxing, and obviously bought into all the hype of the "rope a dope" and Ali tiring Foreman out.

Look at the cards. Ali was well ahead at the time of the stoppage. Thats because everytime Frazier was hitting Ali's arms Ali was countering him against the ropes, smacking the **** out of him coming in. Look at Foremans face after the fight. Its a mess.

Seriously I get tired of this myth being thrown around in boxing that somehow Foreman was better then Ali and Ali just pulled something out of his ass. Its not true.

Ali himself, who was not fond of giving out compliments to other fighters (that he hadn't beaten) said while he fancied himself the greatest heavyweight, he thought Ray Robinson was p4p the greatest. Interestingly, Floyd Patterson and Joe Louis both said they thought SRR was the greatest p4p too.
