His opponent is yet to be announced but he says that he'd like to fight David Haye.

Whoa! You don't see a former welterweight contender competing at heavyweight everyday. Very interesting career. Jones uppercut Arslan the F out 2 years ago for much of our suprise and could have a win over Cunningham too (SD loss) 5 weight classes higher than his original category (have no idea how he made the limit, even at a young age). He's a genuinely underrated guy with a nice skillset, but I'm not sure it will be enough at HW, especially at 38. Haven't seen his last fight but our posters said he looked pretty good considering 2 years out of the ring and closing on 40.

He looked okay, but not in spectacular shape. Hard to say how he'd do against heavyweights; Brudov is a small cruiserweight even, and a big part of why he won was imposing his size. I just wish the guy had some discipline though. Tons of talent, but imagine if he had some self-discipline and was able to stick at 168 or 175, and actually got in the ring more than once occasionally. We might be talking about one of the best of this generation.

Anyway I wouldn't be too surprised if this is a one-off at HW. He's taken a few smaller fights there before simply because he was too lazy to boil down a little.

If Jones does stay at heavyweight he won't go very far. He's too old, will be too undersized, and doesn't fight enough. By the time he fights anyone meaningful he will be in his 40s. Jones had a lot of talent but should have fought more often when the cruiserweights had some depth a year or two ago. But, being the WBA champ means he can get a pretty solid ranking when he moves up in weight. So maybe he does land a big payday by fighting in some sort of eliminator or even a title shot. If making a nice payday is his goal then he might get one. If becoming a top heavyweight is his goal he waited too long to make that happen.

Looks like he's going to debut on the Solis/Austin undercard.

2 fights in 3 months isn't bad for a return after a 2 year absence.

    What a dick.

All this uncertainty in the Cruiserweight division these last few years, and everybody saying "Well once Jones shows up everything can be sorted out" and he makes one stupid defense and moves up?
