Just finished watching the latest episode. I have to say, those UFC judges suck more and more each season. atsch English won a close first round and easily won the second round. Thoughts?
Man, GSP is killing Koschek.. He is definantly working with his guys and takes pride in teaching. His team has been very impressive.
as of now after episode 6, I find it amazing how both teams totally absorbed their respective coaches mentalities and attitudes. Besides Bruce Leeroy (Alex Caceres), the red team all have been good sports, acting pretty much exactly like GSP would. while on Kos' team right after their first win you see how much they've turned from neutral to Koscheck's style: total jerks. And now they just lost 2 of their best fighters in under 3 mins of fighting combined. The look on Josh's face after Marc stevens' loss was priceless.
Yea, you are exactly correct. I was not expecting the results of the last two fights. GSP really has his guys focused and prepared. It will be interesting when they have to face eachother in the next round. I was really impressed by the last kid that fought, I think he will be a sleeper on people.
Was that the quick submission? I was dissapointed in Koscheck burying his face in his hands and lap in the dressing room.. Way to bring the moral down. That is not what you do as a coach.
Yes it was the 20 sec guillotine, Marc Stevens was his first pick and a guy he trained in wrestling a little while back. Even Stevens was so cocky he was 100% sure he wouldn't lose this fight.
I love Cody's guillotine. In an interview he talks about locking it in a certain angle in such a fashion that he's hitting a particular artery. The last two guys he fought went to sleep before they even got a chance to tap. It's a thing of beauty. He's got amazing technique but he seems like a total bonehead. The most entertaining guy is Bruce Leroy. I just saw his amateur fights on YouTube a la Kimbo Slice. He definitely knows what he's doing. Has great athleticism and solid BJJ. Unless he improves tremendously I don't see him going too far as the upper echelon would be too much heat for him to handle. Needs to work on a few things, namely takedown defense. He is a shoe-in for the role of Mugen if Samurai Champloo were to ever be made into a live action film.
Yea, it's a great guillotine. He said he pushes up on his wrist to force it to go in the direction behind the opponents head, this way he stops both arteries on each side of the neck. I guess it's night time before they even realize..
I like that Nam Pham kid though. I feel at this point most of the guys wish they were on GSP's team, even the yellows
How good is this johnathan brookings kid!!! He has smoked all his opponents. GSP is sold on him and so is Dana. I can't wait to see his next fight.
