It's the birthday of a very significant and enduring boxing champion today.

Yes it is Ruslan Chagaev's birthday, but he was born in 1978.

Who is celebrating their 48th birthday today??

Knew you'd be all over this one as soon as you saw it Ippy.

As that sinful Bobby Sinn keeps reminding you though, there's a healthy limit to how much you should love another man!

I've got man love for only a certain number of tough hombres. Duran, Hearns, Morales, Holyness etc. It just so happens that Holyfield is 2 and 0 (2 arse kickings) against someone that the fan boys love so much. :)

    Officially a no contest.

Golota quits after 2 rounds making Tyson the winner by stoppage. But Tyson subsequently tests positive for marijuana, and the result is ammended to NC (no-contest).

Harry Greb (Edward Henry Greb) died age 32.

Greb dies whilst undergoing surgery to repair facial injuries, including a badly damaged eye, caused by nearly 300 fights and a recent car accident.

Greb, 'The Pittsburg Windmill', had a handful of amateur fights in early 1913. He turned pro in mid 1913, having his first pro fight at age 18. He had his final bout in mid 1926, only two months before his death.

During his 13 year pro career Greb logged a staggering 2500 plus ring rounds!

I once read a great writeup on the Carnera - Louis fight. Afterwards you couldn't help but feel incredibly for Primo considering the beating he took. In the dressing room afterwards he had his head in his hands and was repeating "he hits so hard. my god he hits so hard" over and over

He probably wasn't cut out to be a fighter and ended his days in the little place in Italy whence he came from :good
