Got mullered today and I'm very disappointed with myself.

Havent lost one for ages and I get really down after.

I guess most of you just get on with it right and I should just man up. I find this hard though.

I Got a beating last week but went home and thought long and hard about what i did wrong! i then shadow boxed that evening trying new techniques to learn from my mistakes, then spared tuesday with a different partner and i dont alot better but again wednesday evening shadow boxed from my mistakes again! sparing is the closed thing to a fighting to treat it that way just dont let it get to you and think what you will do to stop it happening again.

If you haven't "lost" in sparring in a long time you need to find some new (and better) people to spar with.

Unless your name's Floyd Mayweather you should find people on your level or better to spar with. You don't improve by beating on people who aren't as good as you.

I kinda welcome a beating in sparring. Far as I'm concerned, if there are still people in my gym who can outbox me, then there's still plenty of learning I can do with them.

You're always gonna be pissed after getting schooled, but rather in the gym than in a bout.

Sparring is not a competition, it's a chance to put into practice what you've learned or are currently learning.

Sparring somebody that is better than you will help you learn more, faster. What would be the point of just beating on some guy that's just started boxing, will it make you feel good to "win"? You'll get nowhere with that mindset.

Sparring is where you try to experiment and find out what works and what doesn't. It will also point out your weaknesses and strengths. As long as you keep on learning and improving, the beating you just got is well worth it (within reason).

think of that sparring partner as a good measure of your progress. next time you spar with him, if you don't get beat up as bad, you know you have improved!

As long as you aren't getting physically damaged, a good asskicking is the best way to learn. Gives you something to think about and a good way to measure your progress. You can visualize the sparring session and change what you did, then work on it in the gym and in the ring next time.

Also, there's no winning or losing in sparring, and if there is in your gym, find a new one.

I got my ass handed to me last time out, also.

Its demoralizing, but I'll be back in there, and so will you.

Maybe take some time out to work on the mistakes you made, so next time you feel more confident.

Had my bell rung a few times (thats putting it VERY mildly) sparring a while back, made me question my chin but then again this guy makes everybody question their chin so the fact that Im still kickin and willing to jump back in there with him says something about the heart you'll need, its a sport you fight in...youll get beat up once in a while get over it. Like everybody said you just have to really do some thinking and figure out why you got smacked and figure a way around it. Were you predictable throwing the same stuff all the time? did you move your head or keep it in one spot all the time? did you ever try to outwit or counter him (its a thinking mans sport after all)? did a certain punch always fall short? hows your form? telegraphing? **** man theres a million more questions to ask yourself.
