Indeed. He beat a green version of Hopkins, and would only fight Telesco and Johnson after this interview. Like I said, Merchant was on point. LMAO!! :tired
Robert Frazier really had no business being in a title fight. I dont think he was Roys #1 mandatory. If he was then the rankings were messed up then. I also cant see Roy avoiding Michael Nunn. Not in 1999. He would have beaten Nunn fairly decisively imo.
He vacated his wbc belt to avoid him in 1998, which is why Nunn and Graciano would end up fighting for it
Some of the rounds were close I admit that, lol On the right:Yasmine Pendavis Middle: Lana sands Left: Tabitha Luuv This content is protected
Excellent post again. I watched your fantastic previous post where Larry Merchant, helped Hopkins sum himself up for wanting to fight smaller fighters, and on this thread watched in awe as Jones hid away from Collins and the more frightening proposition when Merchant revealed that Michalczewski was happy to travel, to meet Jones, even though Dariusz was the man. Great post
Yes Merchant bullyed him into fighting Telesco and Johnson otherwise he'd be too scared, after all both men are far better than his prior opponents in Toney, Hopkins, Hill atschAs for a 28yo being green This fight was a gimme, your boy Barrera has had plenty of those over the years
Jones agreed to fight Collins, Collins got knocked out in the gym by Howard Eastman and called his comeback off. Jones also beat 2 men who beat Collins
