That cut got bigger and bigger and worse as the fight went on. Klitschko started taking too many shots and who knows what might have happened, he could have been TKO'd or Lewis could have butchered that eye some more with his thunderous right hand and liberal use of his head (rubbing his hair into the cut as he was doing).

Who knows, the Vitali legend could have ended up like the Zeljko Mavrovic story instead.

So let me get this straight, are you actually ranking Vitali above Lennox Lewis ..in terms of H2h accomplishments,..just when you think you've seen it all..someone comes along and surprises the hell out of you. Even the most rabid V.K. fans rarely go this far..

    Stoppage was rightful. Some remarks:

    1. The cut was worsened by Lewis' headwork. I am not saying it was not a TKO win for Lewis, but watch what Lennox did with his rasta head. He worked very cleverly.

    2. Klitchko was not hurt too much. He was hurt much worse against Sanders.

    3. Lennox was obviously past his prime. Klitschko had the best night of his life. Prime Lennox would have given a beating to Vitaly, no question about it. I dont think he would have been able to knock him down, but he would have won.

    4. Klitschko probably would have won a rematch that time.

That is a great effort at ignoring the "facts" that you go wrong!

Lewis did not technically win - he did win. The doctor stopped the fight but VK would have been ruled out because his corner gave up and applied bandaging.

You can prattle on all your like but in fifteen years of treating cuts I have never seen such a lost cause from the second round on. VK as a pro fighter would expect it to be targeted and should defend it - instead he got cut more. Being able to lean back and use your muscularity does not match up well with Lewis.

And again with your theoretical rankings. Does the fact's that the man you are so blindly arguing is better than Lewis lost H2H despite being the younger, stronger man? Does the fact that he now goes the distance with a challenger whom was KO'd by Lewis in 5 twelve years ago register?

Just be honest that you are a Klit hugger and we can ensure a standard disclaimer can apply.

You can bore your neighbors with your crazy fantasy boxing theories while you are not busy keeping kids off your lawn, but here are the facts of Vitali-Lewis H2H.

    Rounds boxed: 6. Vitali - 4, Lewis -2

Vitali: never down, never behind on scorecards, highest KO ratio in history
    Lewis: knocked out twice

Vitali: 39 and dominating the division
Lewis: retired at age of 38

So, if Lewis had outboxed him for 6 rounds but was then stopped, I guess it doesn't matter seen as he was ahead on the cards, right?

On that premise I guess we should change the result of Brewster - WALDO.

thats dismissive and you know it.
vitali was ahead on points but the fight was in the balance.

lewis is a better technical fighter but the bottom line is that fight wasn't two rounds away from someone seeing stars.

end of the day, that was a cracking fight and it will always be a 'what if' as far as the result goes.
