They were dreadful on the Froch v Kessler fight as well, not going 30 seconds without mentioning 'home town scoring' or the like. I'm convinced we won't.
It's a pretty simple business decision really. Does having Amir Khan on at 4am, most likely 4.30am against an opponent the general public has never heard of ( Which is usually the case these days ), stretching out the SBO event to 7 hours, with a large gap, bring any significant amount of viewers to the card, who wouldn't have otherwise purchased the fight for the Warren Card + Chisora.. Also Lazarus, yes, TK = Team Khan
They'd need to stretch it out until HBO are on air 2.30am-or earlier if they have access to the Kirkland fight via the international feed. Theoretically they could come on air at 9 with Cleverly live, then over to 10 for Wlad v Chisora, back to liverpool at 11 for Smith v deGale. Surely they would be able to fill the time after that until half 2 with the remaining undercard from liverpool (Brook, Bellew, Macklin, Gavin etc.) and if needed any of the undercard from germany (Afolabi, Banks). It's not an ideal situation, and people might not be happy with having most of the undercard delayed-but the time can be filled. I don't think Khan will be content with the money if he fights on regular sky later in the night (a'la Pac v Margarito), so he could just take pittance and go for the exposure fighting on ITV1 gives-like he did with Malignaggi, or be part of the SBO card. Admittedly your point still stands, but I would be more likely to purchase the PPV if it included the Khan fight.
To be honest. It would be brilliant if they had Warrens 30th Anniversary bill, followed by Wlad VS Chisora then maybe re-show highlights of the nights and then move onto the Vegas/Khan card all on SBO.
Bottom line im gonna buy the PPV regardless !!!! if i dont go to Smith vs De Gale that is !!! But ........................ If i was borderline and they did throw Khan Maidana on then id buy it , for me it would honestly be the deciding factor , and if im really honest , in order of precedence , ive got Khan Maidana the most significant of all the other fights happening that night anyway , and the one id least like to miss ............
The problem again is probably down to how much a percentage Khan should get of the PPV buys. The problem for Khan is a fight at 4.30am effects PPV buys. Sky know this and looking at Khan's PPV history probably dont expect huge numbers. The option of having making the warren card and the Khan fight PPV is probably a non starter as how do they decide who gets what cut of the money.
To be honest the Khan-Maidana fight is way better than any of the other fights that night. The only problem is it comes on so late..............4 am is it? But I still think there would be enough people interested in it.
It might be "better" to us, but we are the minority when it comes to who is catered for. Chisora Vs Klitscho is more marketable than Khan Maidana to the public, it may not seem like it now but there is going to be huge amounts of press put into it. You have the British underdog who nobody really knows vs The world heavyweight champion who is also a name many non boxing fans have heard of..., Warren and Sky will be doing the fairytale Rocky type promo'in, despite the fact they know he has nothing beyond a punchers chance, they'll do a good job of making sure the public think it's feasible!
Vitali and Briggs entered the ring at 10pm last week. I don't think it matters if a US fighter is involved. Wlad came out at the same time v Peters.
I'd guess they are just as likely to not split the PPV money and offer to buy the Khan fight at a flat rate to add to the PPV. Much easier/simpler from Skys (and Warrens) point of view.
Warren and Khan dont like to do business anymore, I guess Warren loves to set dates which clash with Khan, he did it with the Paulie fight. Warren dont want Khan/HBO to make a SBO deal with Sky, he still wants to ride off Khan's name and make money off him while he set's up a joke of a fight with Del Boy vs Wlad.
You will find out the joke Dec 11th when Wlad shows Del boy that there is day/light difference in class. Del boy Derick is Wlad normal B- opponent who will get a boxing lesson in a one sided beating with a iron jab.
