What period was Lewis in his prime?

Lewis looked terrible against Tua who was a similar size and style of Tyson but with far less skill.

A 20-22 yo Tyson would've taken apart Lewis.

That version barely got past Vitali in his next fight, got stopped by Rahman a year earlier, and looked shithouse against Tua the fight before that.

And it took him 8 rounds to get a 12 year past-his-prime Tyson out of there.

i think tyson beats him in the same way he beat tony tucker..
Mike was a complete and utter ghost of his prime and it still took lewis 8 rounds of flogging him to get him out of there.
Now imagine what happens when he fights the mike that fights back.

Tyson was stopped by Douglas in his prime, probably on terms with Lewis getting stopped by Rahman. These things happen, at least Lewis avenged the lose in devasting fashion.

BTW Tua's never been stopped and Vitali went from strength to strength after the Lewis fight.

Of course Tyson was a punchers chance against a prime Lewis, but prime 4 prime Lewis would be favourite.

    Lewis looked bad against Tua?

He worked the ring and left Tua behind.

To use the fight between them in 2002 to rank their ability is stupid.

Hell, Tyson was past his best in 1996 when he fought Holyfield, in 2002 he was just crap.

Lewis was clearly past his best in 2002, however no where near as much as Tyson was.

Both fighters at their peak, Tyson wins a UD.

A young Tyson would have knocked Lewis out.

A **** scared Lewis would have never considered a bout with Tyson full stop.

McCall done a decent job on Lewis....can't see any reason why Tyson couldn't have done the same.

Absolutly agree with this!lewis avoided tyson like the plague until tyson was well and truly shot!In their prime's tyson would have destroyed lewis.Buster douglas would have beaten anyone in the world in their encounter and on that night,I don't think i've ever seen lewis look as good as buster did(on that night)in any of his fights, against anyone!and they are of similar build.Buster obviously has diciplin problems.Gotta give lewis some credability for his accomplishments, but tyson all the way!
