The questions is simple Vlad or Vitali, are not the most skillfull fighters outhere, not even in their own weight class, but physically they are the most dominant , so I post the question..Is it size or skills that will dicctate the next HW champion....if recent history is any indication...then THE ANSWER IS EASY...SIZE....WHICH PRESNET ANOTHER SET OF QUESTIONS....atsch
Seeing as Adamek, Chagaev and Haye are the next best HW's, I'd say skills will determine who the best is. The Klits are just freaks - you won't get many guys who are that big and that athletic.
Pulev has skills and size Helenius is SHW size with a monster right but doesnt have top athleticism although it isn't as bad as you'd think at first glance
Size & Skills vs meagerly talented and often fat and unmotivated fighters. Heavyweight's actual dilemma.
If size and strength was really that important, Tye Fields would be a top10 fighter. Dimitrenko 2.01m Fields 2.03m Ustinov 2.02m Helenius 2.00m Valuev 2.13m Fury 2.01m So, these guys would rule the little guys? :huh
Have to disagree with you Orisha, both Wlad and Vitali are physically, and more importantly technically superior to their opponents.
I think the Klit's do have good skill's. Ok, they may not have the widest array of punchers in their arsenal and Vitali may not have the feet of Ali but they do the fundamentals well (stiff jabs, hard straight punchers, decent foot work to get out of trouble, good timing, good accuracy, economic with their shots). Yes their size and athleticism does help them greatly but without good fundamentals they would just be average fighters like all the other 6'6" plus HW's out there.
Why doesn't Valuev then rule the division with an iron fist? The K-brothers are so dominant because they have the best combination of size, athleticism and skills. Yes, size will probably matter more in the future. But size will only be a necessary - not sufficient - condition for the next dominant heavyweight champ.
