    On all the other Boxing Website Forums, the large majority of posters have a strong Idea of how good of a fighter Andre Berto is. The Kid has loads of speed, skill and athleticism. But it's only the posters on ESB that believes this kid is an subpar fighter with no heart and un-willing to step-up:-(. So let's examine this theory...shall we?

    Andre Berto just won his last 3 fights against 2 former belt holders, and a skillful, crafty vet in Luis Collazo. And all 3 of those opponents were Southpaw fighters. And as we all know, for young fighters (like Berto) trying to figure out the Southpaw style can be quite difficult. And with each fight...he got better and each fight versus the southpaws got easier. He struggled versus Collazo, Out-classed Urango and KO'd a battle-tested vet who has a win over Paul Williams....and KO'd Quintana with a torn Bicep. For any other fighter with 26 fights...this would be solid...RIGHT???:-(

    So now, let's take a look at the theory of Berto not being willing to "STEP-UP". Does anyone remember when almost every poster believed Mayweather ducked Mosley? Well wasn't it Berto who was scheduled to fight Mosley. Now due to circumstances outside of his control, that fight didn't happen. But it doesn't take away from the fact that Berto wanted that fight. Now let's fast-forward to after the KO of Quintana. Does anyone remember Berto's answer to the question: "So who do you want to fight next Andre?....MANNY PACQUIAO!!!!" Berto called out the P4P King for a fight. Yet Arum and Roach signs to fight a fighter who didn't have a Boxing License a month ago.

    So Now Berto has a fight with Freddy Hernandez (29-1) who has KO wins over Corley and Anchondo, a fight for a vacant title versus the same fighter that Margarito fought for his comeback fight (Garcia) that was a NC (Headbutt), a win over Ben Tackie and Hernandez also has a win over the same fighter that Hot Undefeated Prospect Mike Jones is fighting on the Pac/Margarito Undercard...Soto-Karass.

    So the question is...with Mike Jones, Pacquiao, Alfonso Gomez all with up-coming fights and of course with Mayweather Bitching-out...a fight with a "RANKED" Welter in Hernandez...is just fine, IMO!!!

    And on a quick-note...All the threads and post about Collazo being robbed versus Berto...Has anyone even seen the Collazo vs Hatton fight. Where are all the Threads about that Robbery. Hatton was gettin' sparked...in fact, have a look at round 12, when Hatton was holding on for dear life.

    Freddie Hernandez is not a good fight. There were plenty of better fights out there for Berto, but they were not made. I am not blaming him for this, but when you are a champion you should try to take the best fights available. Berto for some reason is not doing this. As you said, he is a quality fighter with lot's if talent, but what good is talent when you waste it on sub-par fighters?

    Berto has progidious talent but many , MANY people(fans/peers/experts) resent him because of the money he's making. Until he wins a big fight against a dangerous fighter with a following , many will see him as another over-hyped HBO prospect who's career has been micromanaged to achieve that all-important undefeated record.

    Really don't like him.

    He keeps asking people who he wants to see him in with but NEVER fights them.

    Collazo gave him all he could handle. That's his level.

    What ****ing drugs is the thread starter on?

    Anyone care to guess?

    Andre Berto is the biggest bull**** story in the sport of boxing. The sport honestly would be better off without him. Any formidable opponent whips the living **** out of Berto 9 times out of 10.

    Andre Berto is not a talent of any sort. He's in my opinion a below average "champion"(Really I cringe using "Berto" and "Champion" in the same sentence.

    Berto is also probably the weakest belt holder in ANY weight division.... All the HBO commentators love to suck his **** like he's something above average(perhaps this helps them justify the insane amount of money they pay him) when he's not. Stamina=horrible(when your gassing after 3 rounds of fighting Forbes theres a problem)
    Power= What power?
    Speed= Average(compared with others at 147)
    Heart= The kid is soft as ****

    Andre Berto is a ****ing embarassment to the sport. Thats the bottom line on Berto.

    Berto is all that is wrong with boxing he gets paid a ridicolous amount of money from hbo even tho he cldnt fill a arena in his home town, he got his belt early in his career without really deserving it and like others have stated i beleive Collazo beat him. He talks a lot of **** about people who have actually achieved **** in the sport and his nxt title defence is a joke if Haymon and Hbo werent on his dick I dont think we would ever of heard of this guy

    Berto has good speed and athleticism, but a low Ring IQ.

    What bothers me is that I've heard Berto say that he's "not ready" for certain fighters even though he has a belt. It's absurd. I think that once you've won a belt, it shouldn't be held hostage. Once you have a belt, you lose the ability, the privilege, to say you're not ready for steps up in class.

    I agree with Marnoff that Berto's ring IQ is below average. His handspeed however is amongst the fastest in the sport. He also can be extremely explosive with his attack which is what I find to be so intriguing about his style. Berto gets a lot of undeserved flack for not fighting elite level competition when through no fault of his own is he unable to secure these type of fights. FYI, Dibella has expressed a desire to make Berto-Mosley for early 2011.
