Please do, I'm very curious about it as I've heard a lot of strange things and don't know which ones are true.

the beatings he took, especially the final KO by Ezzard Charles must have washed the Cincinnati Cobra's memory from his mind. I'd take Charles over Robinson anyday at middleweight and Charles over Lewis at ltheavy.:ldevil

He did. Followed by Holman Williams, Bert Lytell, Curtis Sheppard and Ron Richards, the Aussie champ. He seldom, if ever, seemed to mention Charles as one of the best he fought, which is bad form in my book.

I don't remember the source (I will try and look it up after the weekend), but in the late 70"s to early 80's he said that his favorite fighter to watch was Yaqi Lopez (not to be confused with the best)...can't remember the exact context of the question and/or answer????

I think this is a perfect example with account such as these always should be taken with a grain of salt. Fighters often seem reluctant to give due to those who really got the better of them (especially if it happened at their best weight in their prime).

Exactly what i was fishing for :good

This is pretty much compelling proof we shouldn't always hang off every word and opinion a fighter spews forth. Same as Briggs ranting about Vitali the other day. We have to glean out the nuggets and recognise the agenda's.

    The Secret Diet

The basic idea for reducing that I discovered for myself in Australia ... and I can now guarentee its effectiveness for anyone in good health who sincerely wishes to lose weight.
The object is to shrink the stomach. This cuts down your appetite and insures maintenaince of your new lighter weight. A parralell objective is to maintain your strength.
    ...
Almost all of us who are weight conscious are aware of cholesterol. ... I have found a way of keeping this danger to a minimum. I drink 4oz of sauer-kraut juice with a teaspoon of lemon juice mixed in. ... It is a drink, I am afraid, that you must accustom yourself to.
    ...
Normally I advocate chewing my meat and not swallowing the bulk
(sorry but out of context this has me in stitches.) But you might say I am a professional weight-loser, and that the average person does not have to practise this to lose weight.
My theory of relaxism goes hand in hand with the diet. No dieting is pleasant ... Relax about your diet. Don't talk about it ... In your free time, try to keep your mind equally active
(So as not think about food) When you embark on a diet it is well to warn people close to you, for dieting may make you irritiable.
    ...
The Kraut juice ewill also help you keep your regular bowel habits. I am sincerely against pill taking of any kind. I do supplement my diet with vitamin supplements, but vitamins are needed by us all, for none of us can get as much sun as my freinds the aboriginese.
    ...
As a non-drinker I think alcohol is bad, diet or no diet. ... The first pounds off are bloat. And bloat results from liquid intake. By cutting down your liquids as far as you can, you will speed up your reduction. In training I drink a pint of water a day.
    ...
If I were to drink a cold can of beer during my training, it would mean running 4 miles to get rid of it.
    ...

Sleep is important to a person dieting. The body is under pressure when you'r reducing and sleep helps you fight the strain.
    ...

Before dieting be sure and have a checkup by your doctor.
    ...

Charts that say a man so tall should weigh so much are not accurate, because they generalise. Each persons frame is different.
    ...

Stay away from coffeee breaks and any eating between meals. ... Candie's and sweets are naturally taboo .
    ...

You must be positive you want to lose weight ot you'll find yourself cheating in little ways.
    ...

Everybody loves a fat man but a fatman. Good luck.

I will do a sample day for you. This takes ages so thats why I'm not doing it all.

Breakfast 1 cup kraut drink, 1 poached egg, 1 thin slice of whole wheat bread, 1 tablespoon honey, 3 strips crisp bacon, 1 cup black coffee or tea, 8 oz galass of water.

Lunch 1 slice whole wheat bread - plain or toasted, apple or orange, 8oz glass buttermilk, 8oz glass of water, 1 cup coffee or tea black

Dinner 1 cup vegetable soup, large Tbone steak - rare to medium, half head of lettuce, 6 raw carrot sticks, 1 cup of spinach and broth, fresh fruit cup (avoid canned fruit because of syrup), 8oz glass water, 1 cup black coffee or tea.
