Boxing history is littered with fighters with talent who wasted it .. Cooper was a very tough, talented gy who blew it on drugs .. he took fights on short notice. He took fights undertrained. He ballooned in weight. He fought out of his division ... look at how his weight varied from fight to fight through out his career.

keyboard loudmouth?? Don't make me laugh - knows nothing about the sport???? I'm sorry it just bugs the hell out of me when we have too many pricks going round spouting complete nonsense like Bert Cooper is an ATG puncher and Tommy Hurricaine Jackson was a big time banger!! You know young fans - young kids like 10 year olds might be trying to get a handle on the fight game and hearing complete bull spouted by people who claim to be historians is going to just throw them - they'll be looking at Smokin Bert thinkin jeez is this all we have to look forward to?? :? Is this what people think is an ATG puncher?? :? It's just going to put a lot of people off the sport - its doesn't help the appeal of the sport

P4P he was a murderous puncher.......but I would'nt classify him as such as a heavyweight.

He was too small in stature to reach a big tall heavyweighs chin with any shot of significance.

......George Foreman for example dominated him with pure size and strenghth.

.......but yeah, even as a heavyweight, if he could reach you with a good shot, he'd hurt you.....the Holyfield and Moorer fights are prime examples.

Bert was a really good banger in the 90's, but he was a small HW. He was a much better CW and had he stayed there, would have gone down as one of the best. He just didn't have the discipline to be a great fighter. He also packed it in on a lot of his performances.

Williams had power, but he had a **** chin. I remember him get ko'd in the Pan Am games as an LH. His nick-name should have been "half-man, half-unconcious".

Perhaps we can start by debating if you're on drugs and have memory loss or if your purposefully lying since you openly apologized for misquoting me regarding Jackson's power. Here you misquote and spew again. Stop being a clown and get your thoughts in order. Then we can discuss your overall lack of knowledge and poor character .. Again clown, since you don't read before opening your loud mouth, show me where I wrote Cooper was an all time great puncher. I wrote he was a big puncher and he was. Among your problems is that your reading comprehension is somewhere near the third grade level ...

From post 121, Marciano's chin , by RockySplitNose ...Apologies on that one HeGrant

oliver mccall said the hardest punch he ever felt was a bert cooper left hook, i forget the article, it interviewed mccall and vernon woodward i believe on one of mccall's comebacks, but oliver said he felt like he got hit by a truck when he sparred with cooper, if you can hurt mccall, a guy with prolly the toughest beard out there, that should say something, any boxer i know from the philly area who has sparred with cooper has said for the first few rounds cooper was an absolute life taker
