Would you back Larry Holmes to beat all four of Lennox, Bowe, and the Klits?

Interesting. I think he beats Bowe every time, better jab, better workrate. Vitali he beats too, faster and a better mover and boxer. Lewis he outjabs, outboxes and handles the big right when he has too. Wlad could beat him, I think he's faster has good footwork ans a decent jab but of course Larry might Ko him, interesting.

Your argument is full of holes and half stories. You know this. You keep saying "i don't blame Larry" which we both know is nonsense. You simply don't like the guy . That's fine but talk straight instead of this deliberate jibberish.

He might do, Holmes has a good chance of completing the home run here. I'm just relcutant to take him over Lennox really, because Lennox is one of the best heavies ever for me. Vitali would give many greats a hard time imo, but Holmes i still pcik there, I agree Vitali is terrible from a technical standpoint though, terrible doesn't actually begin to approach a justifiable description of him actually. Holmes doesn't necessarily have a big stylistic advantage over Wladimir, but i think he'd beat him anyway, because he is a lot better than him, at everything.

Their reach is near identical and the fact that Holmes is much faster is extremely important.

They're not really something that i class as someone being able to be better at than someone else, for example, you are either are bigger or smaller, you can't be better at size.

I keep saying I don't blame Larry for all because there were instances of fights that King personally did not want to make but there were also fights that Larry did not want and did try and make and avoided for what ever reason. After all he gave up a title not to fight Page and I think Page was ordinary for the most part but had flashes of brilliance.

There is no half story's only Larry had Half a title and he was content with that. There were guys because of styles that would trouble him and Michael Spinks in his 1st fight at Heavyweight showed us that. I always talk straight and pull no punches. This is not a popular issue, most chose to ignore the facts...Norton,Williams,Witherspoon Weaver,Page,Dokes,Tate,Coetzee,Thomas, all rematches or unifications that could have been made, I dont blame Holmes for All but 9 is too many in a decade and Holmes was a half Champ. I seen him get stopped 3 times as an amatuer and seen him improve. I seen Tate get KO'd by Stevenson in the amateurs but came back. I just like it when the champ seeks the best around like Louis,Marciano,Ali and does hide behind his alphabets...Straight enough for ya

Indeed, Scott Frank, Marvis Frazier and James Smith (in a row mind you) did so much more than Page, Coetzee, Dokes, Thomas and co and were sooooo much more dangerous.

Some real revisionist history peaking in here. The plain fact of the matter is that Holmes stated right before having his title stripped for not fighting Page that he would be taking the easy road home from then on and he had earned it. He said the people can go and get stuffed, they just want to see him lose and he wasn't going to give them the satisfaction, basically.

These are the FACTS. After the surprise vs Witherspoon (who was not considered a worthy opponent going into the fight) Holmes fought mugs and juveniles. From Witherspoon on his opponents averaged about 15 fight careers for 6 bouts. Spinks was considered easy too and was initially a 7-1 underdog.

The one single knock i have on Holmes is the easy street he chose for his last 3-4 years. I still rate him ATG #4 but others aren't as forgiving.

I dont really see what all the fuss is about Klitz's and Lewis got beat down in their prime,Bowe was the only 1 that was victorious when the going got rough against Holifield, and where the hell was Lewis when Tyson and Bowe were wrecking people? hiding thats what.Im trying to figure out when did any of these guys beat people that were better than Cooney,Weaver,Shavers,Williams, and Norton that were in their primes when Larry beat them.

Lewis and the younger Klitz got blasted into oblivion by bums, those 5 guys i named that Holmes beat would have beaten the breaks off the guys that ko'd the **** Lewis and Vlad.Bowe would have been the only guy that could have given Larry trouble, the others lacked the heart and guts and the skill and versatility,Holmes is clearly better than these 4 by a good distance to,this is a funny thread.lol

Lewis would be the most difficult fight

    Bowe the easiest.

Holmes wins all 4 matches but he would have to work for it with the exception of the Bowe fight.

With Bowe's lack of defense vunerability to the jab & crappy footwork Holmes could possibly get a shutout win.

Again with the half facts ... to begin with the guy defended the title 20 times .. of course there are going to be easy ones in there ... however in the era of highly corrupt alphabet bodies and after being manipulated by them for all of his prior career and being robbed time and again by Don King Holmes finally said "fu-k it" ... I'm going to fight who I want ... to split hairs because of the few he did not fight when none of them ever defined themselves as dominate or big draws simply shows either bias against the man or simply a lack of complete knowledge of the facts .. if you guys don't get it or chose not to for the sake of taking an incomplete position it shows your own lack of knowledge about the fighter and his era. I ask you to name the fighter that was both dominant and a large draw that Holmes should have fought, not simply some alphabet positioned nonsense.

It's clear to me that we have a group of guys here that simply read record books but have incomplete grasps on the circumstances of the time. In addition, you're fixated on his career post 33 years of age and chose not to focus on all he accomplished prior to it in his long , highly successful prime. While were at it JT, let's make use of FACTS and compare Larry's career post age 33 with other champs ... what were Johnson, Dempsey, Louis, Marciano and Ali doing post 33 ? Is it possible that those who were even still fighting were handpicking opponents as well or did Jim Flynn, Tami Maurello, Richard Dunn, Chuck Wepner, JP Coop , Alfredo Evangelista and Leon Spinks set the world on fire at the time they challanged for title bouts ? I'd mention Dempsey and Marciano opponents but those two were smart enough to retire ...
