Briggs made the end. Vitlay did not make it past the halfway point of the fight. I belive Lewis was ahead on the scorecards in the McCall and Rahman fights. Does that mean he won those? It certainly gets difficult to keep track of fight results when actual results are replaced by wish lists.
If Briggs was winning the fight, and was stopped on cuts midway through. This would have legs. There are absolutely Zero similarities between Vitali/Briggs and Vitali/Lewis. Keep trying though.... I can see you knuckleheads still haven't gotten over the night that Vitali sent Lewis into retirement.
Age and detoriating skills/waning interest sent Lewis' into retirement. Meanwhile, Vitali got sentenced to facial reconstructive surgery by a past-prime, overweight, unmotivated Lewis. I see you still haven't got over the fact that Lewis is twice the heavyweight Vitali ever has been or ever will be. Pity your man couldn't forge a good career and resumé for himself like his brother, rather than spending 4 years running from Rahman. It's okay though, I can't say I don't understand the bitterness. I mean a guy who cleaned out one of the best era's of heavyweight boxing in living memory, versus somebody who's best wins are amongst other's a domestic-level Danny Williams, glass-jawed Herbie Hide - not even a heavyweight - and a bloated Kirk Johnson who never achieved anything.
The difference in resumé between the two brother's really shows a far greater disparity than people like to imagine. Even since Vitali's comeback, last 6 fights: Sultan Ibragimov - Unification belt, one of the top heavyweights around. Southpaw, quick, technically skilled and tricky to handle. Wasn't pretty, but Wlad dominated and beat a better opponent than anyone Vitali has faced since his comeback. Tony Thompson - Pretty much the same height as Wlad, same reach, Wlad dominates a tall, relatively skilled southpaw. Hasim Rahman - Late replacement for Povetkin - again Wlad agreeing to fight somebody better than anybody Vitali has faced since his comeback, though it unfortunately didn't happen. Still, Wlad dominates. Rahman is still better than Briggs, Sosnowski or Johnson. Ruslan Chagaev - Top 3 heavyweight, arguably WBA champion, southpaw, technically skilled, tricky to fight, Wlad dominates. Miles better than anybody Vitali has faced since his comeback. Eddie Chambers - Arguably top 5 at heavyweight, down to a good, healhy weight. On a great run of form, miles better than anybody Vitali has faced since his comeback, Wlad dominates. Sam Peter - Probably past his best, but at least at a healthy weight and motivated, better than the version Vitali faced and dominated in similar fashion. -- Sam Peter - Arguably the best win since his comeback, dominated a title holder, but not even as good as either version that his brother faced and dominated in the same way. Juan Carlos Gomez - Top 10 at best, former cruiserweight, dispatched in decent style although he looked unimpressive early. Chris Arreola - Came in unbeaten, but having beaten nobody of note. Clearly wasn't ready, since lost to a cruiserweight. Came in well overweight. Top 10 at the time? Perhaps at the lower end, debatable though. Kevin Johnson - Pur-lease. Had beaten nobody of note whatsoever, best wins an unknown Vargas or 41 year old Seldon. Didn't even try and fight. Not top 10 at the time. Albert Sosnowski - And it gets arguably worse. Not top 10 at all, not even top 15. Came in in shape and looked to give it a go and Vitali was unimpressive and sloppy. Shannon Briggs - Years past his best, asthamtic, 2 rounds of stamina at best, came in heavier than expected, motivated but not even top 25. 4 rounds in comeback against less than stellar opposition, not well prepared. - I'd argue that bar Rahman, Wlad has beaten definitely 4, possibly 5 with his version of Peter, contenders better than anybody Vitali has faced since his comeback. Even Rahman is better than Briggs, Sosnowski and Johnson.
herbie hide most certainly won the event against vitali. vitali still hasn't sacked up and offered the rematch.
Aye, that's a real shame. Herbie was double-crossed and that's a fact. In his defence though, Vitali did offer to have the rematch at Ibrox park during the half-time break of the next Rangers-Hibernian match. Apparently, Herb felt the suggestion was demeaning.
I can't wait to read this forum in another ten years. Then it will say "they dug Lennox out of the old folks home and pushed his 300lb, 90 year old carcass into the ring in a wheel-chair, where he proceeded to tear Klitchko's face clean off - Klitschko spent the entire 6th round unconcious but Lennox couldn't drop him because Klitschko's face was caught in his dreads"
