Fights where you have to admit that your fav got a shady win.

When Carlos Monzon fought Denny Moyer in early '72 he was not exactly in peak form, and Moyer actually looked pretty good in the early going, then Monzon caught him in the 5th and knocked him down briefly, and the follow up wasn't especially hurtful to Denny and the ref quickly stepped in and stopped it..bringing catcalls, boos and thrown oranges from the crowd. Moyer and his manager protested, saying that Monzon has "his own referee" and all that. It was a b.s. stoppage, but Monzon didn't need any help from a referee or anything like that and would have, I'm sure, stopped Moyer decisively sooner or later.

 

Greg Page may have been given a gift against George Chaplin the second time.

 

Azumah Nelson vs Jeff Fenech I....Azumah is about my favorite non-philly fighter, but I don't see how he deserved this draw!

Bobby Watts did not deserve his decision over Hagler. A competitive fight, where even a draw for watts would have been a stretch. The fans cheering for every punch wether it landed or not must have impacted the decision...Love Philly dearly but this was a hometown decision!

Tony "The Tiger" Lopez vs Dingaan Thobela I...Not sure how Lopez won more than 4 rds ...5 would be a real hard to find....Not one judge saw it that way, although every fan/media report indicated a clear win for Thobela

I'm a fan for life of Barrera for his beautifully executed huniliation/ownage of that insufferable ******* Hamed.

 

If you want to see a fighter complain like a child after losing a fight watch Barrera/Morales II and III.

Surprised nobody's mentioned the first Louis-Walcott bout. The judges shoulda been wearing ski masks 'n carrin' guns.

 

Wrenching reading this about a vital Denny Moyer, rc, after just seeing him 'n his brother Phil -- who just died -- all-but vegetables in wheelchairs in a nursing home with their heart-broken dad at their side in a documentary called AFTER THE LAST ROUND.

 

"Macho" Camacho is NOT my favorite fighter, but he received shady verdicts in his favor when he fought both "Mancini & Duran" in 1989 and 1996 on PPV.... WORD!

Wilfredo Gomez got a nice gift in his native Puerto Rico when he supposedly decisioned Rocky Lockridge over 15 rds for the 130 pound title in 1985....

ah, that's a pathetic story about the Moyer brothers..the ugly, tragic side of boxing. Denny fought a bout with Jose Chirino back in the 70's..I remember watching it with my dad..and Archie Moore was doing the commentary. It was funny, as Moore was supposed to be somewhat objective, but he was really "into the fight", obviously for Moyer...calling him "Moy-yay"...and really admiring Denny's smooth boxing..I remember how good Moyer looked that night..my dad was a fan of Moyer. What a fine fighter he was..that's the way I'd prefer to remember him.

 

Yes he did...and as a huge admirer of Gomez, I was stunned..no, ..STUNNED(!) over this decision..it was pure robbery.

 

Michael Spinks got a nice gift from 2 of the 3 Vegas judges when he retained his IBF title against Holmes on HBO in April of '86....

I always liked Mikey Spinks, but he didn't really beat Holmes the second time around...
