How so JG??? Yeah, Lena played at the Waldorf.. amazing. Oh, she also had to be ushered through a rear entry door via the kitchen to access the building. She was not even allowed to eat in the same building.. What racism??
Louis - Schmeling II If this question was offered on the General Boxing Forum the majority of the 24 year old posters would stampede for Mayweather-De La Hoya as the most important fight of all time because it did 2.4 million PPV buys and that is the sole criteria to judge any boxing event.
The annoying thing about your posts is that you come across as someone that is breaking some big, big news. Dude, we know America has and had racial inequities and tensions. We get it, we read the papers. What country are you from that's so perfect then?
When Joe Louis was ascending the heavyweight ranks the colour bar was still in operation, and when he retired two black heavyweights fought for his vacant title. Louis did not destroy racism, but he did more than any other athlete in history to destroy the colour bar in sports. A significant element in that was probably the way the media portrayed his fight with Max Schmeling.
Boring..... The colour bar existed in one place. The USA. Janitor, you forgot to mention Louis' defence against John Henry Lewis. You'd probably think that ground breaking also. Do you have any idea how Jack Johnson, Sam Langford, Sam McVey, Peter Jackson, and other coloured fighters were treated in Europe and Australia?? Face it.... racism related 90% to the USA!!! No colour bar existed outside of there. Just a shame the likes of Jack Johnson were not treated, or allowed to behave in a normal care free manner. Many good years of talent went drifting in time.
Louis - Schmelling 2 Johnson - Jeffries Ali - Foreman I dont think any others come near to these. How about taking the heavyweights out and then seeing which is most important
