I think what we've seen pretty much confirms my thoughts about Brock. He's good at working a gameplan of "safe" top control while using his power to hurt people but lacks the abilties and mental toughness to win a competitive match.

Agenst the right opposition he can probabley pickup some more good wins but I wouldnt be supprized for example if someone like Nelson beat him.

Not bad but Fedor should be #2 now and really still was after the Werdum loss.

Werdum is the undisputed champion, you beat the champion to become the champion and it also happened that he beat arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time and they still don't give him credit? I understand ZUFFA doing what they do, but the fans? WTF

    1. Werdum
    2. Fedor
    3. Cain
    4. JDS
    5. Brock
    6. Overeem
    7. Silva
    8. Barnett
    9. Carwin
    10. Mir

Overeem probably beats them all though.

Prime Coleman would have smashed Brock.

I respect Brock, especially his competitive drive to fight tough fights at such an early stage. But it was all smoke screens. Mir turtles up just as bad as Brock, Herring has done nothing since 2002, Couture had a shot chin and coming off a layoff and Carwin (another overrated & inexperienced fighter like Brock) gassed his way out of a win.

    Yeah, that sounds logical too.

The only reason I put Cain + JDS higher on my list was because they fought and beat better competition more recently then Fedor did.

    Since Sept 2009:
Cain - a win over Nog and Brock
JDS - a win over Cro Cop, Yvel, Gonzaga, and Nelson
Fedor - a win over Brett Rogers, loss to Werdum

But yea, in terms of skill, Overeem and Fedor would be either number one and number two at this point since they can soundly beat most of the heavies out there. Fedor vs Overeem would be like the new Fedor/Cro Cop.

The only positive out of tonights fight is that I now don't really regret not seeing Fedor vs Brock.

Overeem vs Fedor is the fight to be made. In a perfect scenario, Overeem wins the K-1 GP and Fedor beats Werdum in a rematch, then have them fight next. The two undisputed #1 heavyweights of kickboxing and MMA fighting each other.

I can see Cain maybe being ranked higher then Fedor right now. JDS, Carwin, Brock all have overrated records. JDS does deserve credit and he is on a long winning streak, but not higher then Fedor who still fought the approx #8, #3, #7 heavyweights.

Since when did the UFC start pushing this moniker "Baddest man on the planet" for their heavyweight champ? Seems they have gotten way up themselves since the Toney fight.

James Toney has long been removed from the elite boxer he was promoted as. Hell, he got outboxed by Sam Peter nearly four years ago.

If Velasquez wants that mantle let him fight Vitali Klitschko to see how bad he is. Vitali would whoop both Brock and Velasquez on the same night.

But what kind of wrestling or take down experience does he have? And I'm a huge fan of both Klischkos actually.

he has kickboxing experience. they won't get anywhere near him to take him down. He knocks Lesnar out with the first shot as he's coming in. velasquez would take a few more shots, but no doubt he will eventually succumb in a heap before too long

UFC 116...so nearly two months before the Toney fight. But don't let the facts get in the way.

Guy lost to a fight against an undefeated contender. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Yes, the way he lost the fight...
There is nothing wrong losing like CC against Gonzaga, there is nothing wrong losing like Fedor against Werdum, but there is something wrong losing against Velasquez the same way you almost lost aginast "short tank" carwin !
