Obviously Brock Lesnar is overrated.

Nothing but a hyped up joke.

  2. Wasnt he supposed to be at 60% before the Carwin fight? Didnt Dana and Zuffa try to convince everyone that he would be a mean mother f*&^%$ when he returns at 100%?

What actually happened was Brock got exposed by better fighters, he was no longer fighting with semi retired Herring and Randy.

I don't really place much store by what these promoters say.

    You might be correct.

Not might be he IS correct. Have you seen what Fedor did to a prime Heath Herring? He completely annihilated him. And Fedor is much smaller than Herring. Herring who was as good as retired still lasted 3 rounds with Brock.
The same goes for Randy. Another semi retiree who's NEVER done well up at heavy against massive heavyweights. After 2 fights he was gifted a title shot. Thats less than pathetic.
This my friend is what happens when you fight live opposition. Can you imagine what the heavies in SF would have done to Brock? They would have torn him a new *******.

now the cain express goes hyper, until someone survives his ground and pound, he gasses and gets ko'd. then he's suddenly 'overrated'.

the mma game just doesn't seem to lend itself to dominant long term champions in its brief history.

the round robin continues, jds is next, carwin, then brock will have worked himself back into contention.

it's very possible in 2-3 years all these men have held the title.

going to be super fun to watch

A certain Russian might disagree with you.:D

I don't buy into the trashing of everyone that loses a fight but Lesnar was about as clear a case of someone being overhyped as you'll find since Soko.

I'm guessing Cain isnt going to get quiet the same treatment given he's not a giant and that the whole "new breed" hype has pretty much died on its ass.

Its been proven time and again that huge athletic wrestlers dont have lengthy tenures as champs at a high level in this sport. The hype around Brock's athleticism was ridiculous. And most of all simply not warranted.

I love the way the UFC hyped this up as something new rather than the same thing we'd seen a decade ago with Coleman, Kerr etc.

The UFC is great at pushing its brand by simply peddling lies. Kerr and Coleman went on to achieve great things in this sport as pioneers. But their dominance was very brief. Lightening in a bottle nothing more or less. Brock isnt close to even scratching the surface of the at talent that Kerr and Coleman had in the early UFC's and PRIDE. Those guys were stupidly tough.

Its hard to judge Lesnar exactly but he is starting to look VERY like Kerr to me, massive power, good wrestling, limated but still potentially dangerous standup, questionable cardio and heart although he's not shown a sub game near to Mark's yet IMHO.

As you say thats not as much of an insult as many would take it as and more of a product of the UFC looking to downplay the quality at HW in the past because they didnt have Fedor, Barnett etc signed up. HW for me was actually the most advanced division by the early 00's, a great mix of athletic freaks and well rounded fighters.

We've seen many times before though that while a limated game can pickup some big wins it rarely leads to consistancy unless your facing hand picked opposition who all have skillsets that matchup well with it.

Wonder what Dana's thoughts on who the baddest man on the planet is now. I feel a little for Brock, a pawn caught up in the Zuffa money making machine, would be next to impossible for him not to start believeing the massive continual hype they'd be feeding him on a daily basis

Brock was no way near as devastating a force as prime Kerr. Prime Mark Kerr was a very VERY scary dude. He had utterly brutal GnP and was well adversed in submissions. Iv seen that dude nearly tear an opponents head off with a neck crank.
Brock just looked the part and had a wrestling background as well as tremendous athleticism for a big man. Thats pretty much where it ends. In terms of experience he has none. He got as far as he could on talent was gifted a title and i think that will be it for him. I dont see how he can achieve more in the UFC by becoming a contender. Unless they get him to fight Frank Mir on every show.

  14. Kerr was an international level wrestler (Brock a college level)
Kerr was also a top rate grappler.

Oh, here we go. The guy lost. Big deal. In 6 fights he still beat 2 champs, 2 mandatories and a top contender.

This is a good loss. He has to take evolving more seriously. We always knew that he could get caught out because he wasn't the finished article in any way other than wrestling.

Other fighters are still having building fights in their 7th bout not on their 3rd title defence!
