I can't think of one fighter whose punching technique and style was/Is as ugly as Joe "Slappy-White" Calzaghes.
This: :bbb Is DEFINITELY NOT Joe.
    :fight This is Joe.

Well Gene Fullmer's style was a different kind of ugly but still ugly nonetheless.

BTW, "Slappy-White" is not meant as a racial distinction. Slappy White was the name of one of Red Foxx's side kick comedians and the name seems quite appropriate for describing Calzaghe's punching technique.

    LOL, that guy is bad!!
Still, I give him the edge over Calzaghe for straighter punches.

I may be one of the few here, but I kind of like his awkward style. I just like guys with a high puch output... Still, not my all-time favorite, but entertaining.:smoke

I also like swarming, high output fighters like Pacman, Arron Pryor, and Edwin Valero, but Joe Calzaghe is not a proper punchers like these others.
His whirlwind flailing arm style really is quite unique and untraditional, especially the way his open hands come down across his opponent's face from top of the head to chin dragging his open glove across his opponent's eyeballs.

I'm not a Calzaghe fan, but i think he's treated quite unfairly on this forum.
Dispite his ego and tendacy to beat up over the hill ATG's, almost everyone here knows where his slappy style comes from. But with it he still won the fights!
Imagine if the guy didn't have those brittle hands, and still had his punching power in his later fights... Would anyone still make fun of him then? :think

This is true, early in his career when his hands were not so brittle he did not slap anywhere near as much. The fact that he could beat so many guys late in his career with his hands, just shows how great he was.

I've seen Calzaghe's fights when he supposedly had good hands. I was not impressed, and even then he was nothing special.
